What do I need to do if I'm getting an ACPI and Service Control
Manager stop errors showing in the event log? I'm thinking these are what are causing the random reboots.

yes they cause the reboots, but that is actually a good sign. you have reboot on error enabled by default. look on this forum there are like 3 posts people just responded to on this issue. basically right click my computer->advanced->recovery and startup->untick restart on error . this should help you write down the actual error. if it is ACPI then you might want to set your computer to "standard computer" next time you install windows 2k/xp by pressing F5 during setup.

Thanks....I have done the uncheck thing...I guess I need to write down that long number that comes up now.

basically when u are in the blue setup screens of win2k/xp after setup asks you for F6 to load RAID card drivers, you press F5 to disable ACPI setup. if you don't wanna reformat then this won't be helpful to you.

I don't know the answer either...but I did move it to standard computer and I still got the the ol' BSOD. I did write down all those numbers that came up. The BSOD also said something like memory dump needed....memory dump completed! It said that after the all those numbers that come up on the BSOD.
