I'm getting phone service from Packet8!

I can't wait....the equipment is supposed to be here tomorrow! Anyone else using their service?

I'm planning on using my Linksys WRT54G to do QOS and ensure that gaming doesn't affect phone service. Anyone have any luck with that?

I would like to know how there service is compared to Vonage.
People complain about hearing echoes when talking to me.

I was referred to Packed8 by a coworker. He told me that he used to have their service and it worked great with minimal delay and clear sound. That was 6-8 months ago. The new firmware on their appliance is supposed to be even better with automatic updates, so it's pretty much worry-free.

I'm still skeptical. I would have considered vonage, but they didn't have local numbers in my area. Packet8 definitely is packed with features and has many extra options for cheap.

My ONLY complaint about Vonage is there customer service. My emails were never answered but I figured it out myself. Someone said ATT's VOIP is much much better, but I didnt want to pay for the setup fees and all that since I just got Vonage. Other than that, Vonage has been great!

A friend of mine has it, and he loves it. I belive it is also less expensive than Vonage.

Yes it is, but I'm also looking at the long term. Will Packet8 be around? I remember when DSL was the bad boy on the block and then companies started folding or being bought out. Hopefully this wont happen with VOIP, but you never know!

Packet 8 uses less bandwidth than vonage. It's cheaper too. They are funded by Level3 communications so they are bigger than you think.
