by your recollection things will go black, then you'll hear "wake up, it's over" almost instantly.

worse that can happen is you'll throw up coming out of it.... or get molested while your under. But is that really a bad thing?!

True - loved the dreamless part - I think it's what it must be like to be dead.

I would suggest being put to sleep, depending on how much they give you, you'll either be half-conscious, or fully out, and all you'll remember will be them telling you that you'll start to feel a little sleepy and then you'll wake up in another room.

i just don't like the idea of being fully conscious when they literally yank your teeth out and then stitch up the holes.

good luck, and enjoy the vicodin afterwards

thats how it was for me today, i remember the dentist saying "it takes about 45 seconds to a minute to kick in..." then i thought "hey, this is pretty funny" then the next thing i remember is sitting in the chair after the surgery having hte dentist tell me what to do

i remember when i was getting all of my 4 wisdom teeth out, they put the gas mask on me but it took almost 45 minutes for me to pass out, they even turned up the gas on me which was REALLY fun, i remember bouncing my head all around and counting all the dots on the ceiling and laughing for no reason and after i woke up and i felt so drunk i couldnt keep myself upright. i couldn't even walk my mom drove me home. i dont remember the operation at all and i dont think i would want to

I got mine done in the military. Since theyre working on your mouth, the normal bullet they give you to bite was unavailable. So they just gave you a shot of vodka and a slap on the back.

Ok so it wasn't that bad. But it wasn't exactly fun with semi-effective lidocaine, 4 hours of drilling and yanking, and them talking about how much blood there was that they couldn't see sh!t. Probably the worst part was that they cut up the sides of my mouth pretty bad trying to get the tools into the back. I'm not exactly sure if being out would have made my jaw more slack and thus avoided this, but if i had to do it over again (in the civilian world), i'd get put under. My cut up lips actually hurt more than the extraction afterward. Imagine someone taking the sides of your mouth, where the top and bottom lip are, and snipping about a half-centimeter of skin with dull scissors so that everytime you open your mouth even a tiny bit, it rips the semi-healed skin. Not excrutiating pain, but not something you can really ignore, either.

I have had one done whilst awake, grind grind drill YANK... all over. About 20 minutes for that I think. A little bit of pain afterwards but you'll get that either way, just pop a pill. That and a mouth full of blood. Tasty.

Took about 45 minutes for my two lower wisdom teeth to be pulled. They couldn't put me under because I ate and drank something prior to the surgery. I didn't feel any pain (other than when they injected my gums with novocaine). When the dentist was drilling my teeth I just felt pressure and a slight warming sensation on the tooth he was drilling.

It was kind of scary when he was trying to split to tooth with the pliers because was pushing on my head and using a lot of pressure on the plies. Then you'd hear a loud cracking sound and he'd just pull out the roots and drop them into a metal pan.

Off course you should not be put to sleep. It is absolutely unnecessary and full narcosis is always a risk. Local definately is enough. I had all my wisdom teeth removed whith only local at once.

For one WT it shouldnt take more than an hour (even when they have to cut(saw/mill) it out of your jaw), if they can pull'em prolly no more than 30 min.

I understand your concerns about being put to sleep. If the unknowns about it worry you, then don't do it. I had mine out without being put to sleep and didn't feel anything except some pressure as others have said. It is kind of weird though watching and hearing what he's doing to you; and the way they manipulate your jaw and head may make you want to smack them.

i was put under, made it seem like the whole thikng took 10 minutes, he counted back from 10, he got to 7, then i woke up and it was all done, all 4 of mine were impacted, not haveing to hear all that drilling and cracking IMO was a godo thing
