I'm getting LAID OFF and this is my plan...

Technically If you look back at all the pornography you've seen, one of them is bound to be an underage girl. You could technically be in prison right now for child pornography and permanently labelled as a child predator for the rest of your life. You won't be able to get a job outside of McDonald. Let's not get technical 😀

Sorry, I won't be technical this time. Your "plan" includes behavior that is illegal on its face, especially now that you are aware that it is illegal, you would in fact be "knowingly" violating the provisions of unemployment (sounds like fraud to me).

So to clarify: You would be committing a fraud and doing so knowingly and apparently with intent to do so.

I'm not sure why I'm even bothering responding to the latter part of your post, but under many state's laws and federal law in the US, child pornography is an intent crime, meaning if you didn't intend to view child pornography, you didn't commit the crime.

Big expenses you forgot about are:

Federal taxes if you select to have them removed will cost you about $200/month

Health care - you qualify for reduced rate COBRA so I'd expect that to run you $200/month.

Take 30-days off and it will prolly be enough time.

I wouldn't sell the car, then buy a scooter, then maybe have to buy a car again in the future. Either keep what you have or trade your car in for something cheaper with better gas mileage. All this switching around of vehicles is a waste of money as each middle man will rip you off, plus you'll have to pay tax, title, and license for each new purchase.

OP, except for your grammar and your assumption that you will get unemployment your plan actually seems relatively well thought out. BTW, what do you do for a living?

Recommend that you reassess unemployment. You should not assume that you are going to receive it ... unless you are actively looking for other employment. If you cannot prove this you should delete that from your income. The purpose of unemployment is not for you to take a vacation but to tide you over as you are ACTIVELY looking for another job.

Also recommend that you work on your grammar.

Unemployment was not designed for you to fart around all summer. Way to exploit the system. Your momma must be proud.

this is why unemployment is a terrible terrible idea. it is literally encouraging you to NOT work.

i dont understand how people can defend crap like this. (though i am all for you enjoying some time off - please don't abuse a system just because it is begging to abused)

Unemployment is a good idea but people abuse it. It should be how like foodstamps use to be back in the day, only able to use it for the essentials to live.

Anyone care to give an opinion?

My opinion? You're a loser.
Anyone planning on collecting unemployment for the "relaxes" is a parasite.

Unemployment was designed for those who need it to survive. You do not.
Look for a job now.

When hiring, I always have the thought in my head that laid off employees are the ex-poor performers from some other company. I know that's not always true, but I would rather take someone that is gainfully employed over someone without a job. This is even more apparent if you are interviewing months after being laid off.

I would not totally not look for a job. It took me 6 months to dine one after I got laid off 2 years ago. It is worth starting early because you will most likely end up looking for a while anyways.

Here's what I think, OP. I think you did a superb job trolling the fuck out of all of these idiots replying to you.

I'm trying to figure out what the downside would be to having a program whereby citizens can turn in people committing welfare fraud, unemployment fraud, food stamps fraud, insurance fraud, disability fraud, etc. i.e. suppose someone was set up to receive 20,000 over the next year; the investigation cost $2000, court costs are another $4000 to prosecute them... the citizen should get 10% of the remainder as a reward. I'm sure the final numbers would have to be juggled a little bit, but seems like a great way to start limiting the cases of fraud. Once people realize that their neighbor, former coworker, acquaintance, hell, even a family member can turn them in for fraud, just so they can get a reward, then people would be less apt to try.

I'd say take the unemployment money and do like everyone does. Go out and take a nice long vacation somewhere. It's free money, why not use it up?

This is a disgusting opinion. I can't believe morons actually go around freely admitting this. Attitudes like this are why society sucks. Just because "everyone else" does the wrong thing doesn't mean that you should do it too. These asshole freeloaders ground the economy to a halt.

There is no such thing as free. That money comes from someone else. Grow up. If everyone thought like you all countries would be third world shit holes.

Good idea.

This thread is a troll trainwreck but for learning purposes anyone really considering this course of action should consider the following:

1) Your medical bills may be zero now, but what will they be when you are scooting around and get creamed by a drunk in a F-350?

2) Also in reference to #1, Why spend $3,000+ on a scooter when 3 months of payments on your current vehicles will only cost you $2300? Even accounting for gasoline, you're breaking even. If you expect to be underemployed at the end of the summer I suppose this would be a consideration.

In prison term, Snitching. They'll love you.
