Seriously, too bad about the zx6r. You'll get another one and good luck with the job search.

I'm the guy with the same bike. Mines 09 monster edition.

Are you going to be able to relax after losing your job and without another job lined up? That would be really stressful to me.

I'd say take the unemployment money and do like everyone does. Go out and take a nice long vacation somewhere. It's free money, why not use it up?

Anyone care to give an opinion?

You know your expenses better than anyone else.

And, this sounds OK to me. Also, if you made enough to pay close to $800 a month for car/bike, think of how much you could have had if you saved that amount each month up until now,...

why not a bicycle instead of a scooter?

and if you can afford to take two months off for soul-searching, now is the time to do it. you'll have no time once you have wife/kids/mortgage/major responsibilities.

While I like the fact that you have thought this far forward, it might be in your best interest to get your name out to temp agencies, contracting companies, etc, and start looking now. The BEST time to look for a job is when you already have one and since you know that your impending layoff has a good chance of happening, I would start looking now. This puts you in more of a position to pick and chose offers when you still have time to do so as opposed to taking the first offer you get because you need the cash in 12 months.

Thanks, the bike is a beast. A lot of people walked up and commented on it all the time whenever I get gas😀

I have a 1 year emergency fund saved. I don't even have to touch it since my bills are so low, my unemployment check should cover all monthly expenses. I guess that's why I'm not really stressing. On top of that, I no longer have to work in a job where it's miserable.

Even with the car, bike, and insurance payments I still managed to saved $1400 a month. That's why It didn't bother me much having all those bills. But I get your point. Man this is going to be a big income drop for me.

In order to give an educated opinion, I think we need to know the following:

1. How old are you?;
2. Where do you live (city or state)?;
3. What industry do you work in?;
4. What is your educational background?

Thanks.

How about looking for a job now instead? It is easier to find a job when you have a job, for multiple reasons.

Seriously. If I look at your resume and see that you haven't had a job for more than a few months, I'm going to assume that there is something wrong with you.

there are a lot of stories about people being unemployed having a harder time getting a job than people that are currently employed. I would start looking now... even as attractive as a few months to kick back sounds.

Complete truth.
