i'm gettin a northwood :) best RDRAM?

Just sold my 1700+ , 768 mb of crucial, & epox 8kha+

and ordered a northwood 1.8A from the gateway $50 off deal

now im wondering what kind of memory overclocks the best

i'm thinking samsung or corsair and leaning towards corsair

i am getting an Abit Th-7 II

Corsair uses Samsung chips in their RD so you're getting Samsung................😉

wouldn't it have been much easier to just sell the mobo and cpu keeping the DDR? that way you could have gotten a 845D or SIS645 board and not had to pay thru the nose for ram(RDRAM or DDR both are expensive now)


otherwise look for samsung orignal...... they are very good oc'ers generally and not to bad on the wallet....

Actually, there will be no difference in the O/C ability! I've got Corsair in one TH7II, and Samsung branded RD in my other TH7II..............both O/C just a good as the other and one can not actually see any differences. As to price.............most people (according to stats) use Crucial DDR or the PC2700 in new P4 based DDR boards. This being the case, DDR is actually considerably higher now, and RD actually dropped about $3/128mb in the last week!🙂

thats not considerable lower.... thats slightly higher.


but your right RDRAM.... is becoming a draw..... now that the price delta is practically gone.

it only cost be about $150 to make the upgrade and I think it was well worth it (i bought the DDR @ $28 a stick and selling it at $65)

I still think RAMBUS is the way to go if you are going P4 (aka tom's hardware) until they implement dual channel DDR anyway

Looks like RD is about $13 cheaper when you compare what most people purchase according to the stats for A/T!😉 Oh, and if you want to argue the fact that RD has to be bought in pairs..............it's $38 for 128mb at the same place.............😉

the way i see it is if your going P4 you might as well go rambus 🙂 because DDR = castrated p4
