Would it be better to go the sempron 3100+ combo route if I can get it $50 cheaper than the best amd 64 3200+ with mobo combo? (pricing VERY important here...if i get 3200+ ill probably go with a 9600xt route while with sempron ill go with 6600gt)

Which would be better do you think?

(sempron 3100+ combo from monarch, and 3200+ from Fry's)

(I play games a lot)

what games? I used to have a 9600 and it ran quite well. as a third option, get the 3200+ and a 6200, tehn softmod it to a 6600.

I think a 3100+ 754 sempron with 6600gt would be better for gaming than a 3200+ A64 with 9600xt.

Are you buying anything else? Perhapse you could cut something else out and get the 3200+ and a 6600gt?

What about a 3000+ A64 and a 6600gt?

Ok heres the breakdown of prices...(and no i am way too lazy to post links to everything[All prices include tax and/or shipping])

amd 64 3200+ combo with ecs 755 a-2 mobo from Frys ...$203.30
sempron 3100+ with abit kv8 pro mobo from monarchcomputer with free games that brings price down $50 for me......145.90 (195.90 technically)
450w psu from Fry's...$33
Hard drive from CC...$41.50
512mb ddr1 ram with cas latency 2.5...$39.5
\Video cards/
6600gt...$158 from monarchcomputer with free farcry and COD
9600pro...$88.5 from chiefvalue (last time I checked)

So...I have to spend $114 anyway.

I'd go with the better CPU - no way I'd buy a Sempron. Besides, the Sempron is not a 64 bit CPU.

Having said that, the 9600XT while a decent performer is a couple of years old - you should somehow try to get the 3200 AND the 6600 GT, even if it means waiting a while.

450W PSU for $33? Sounds like a "no-name". Invest an extra ~$15 for the XClio 450W PSU here. Dual 12V rails, and a quality manufacturer. PSU quality is very important; you don't want your comp to die right before you're about to pop someone in the head in Counter Strike or something...

the 6600gt will have a much greater impact on playing games imo so get the sempron with the 6600gt infact u might be better off getting a 6800 and a cheaper cpu as a saw them for $199 at newegg
