I'm feeling nostalgic, post some vintage tech you once owned

This thread is where you can post about vintage technology you once owned.

My first mp3 player was a Dlink DMP-50. I got it in the early 2000s when everyone else still had CD players and even Minidisk players, so I felt like a total badass walking around with it, especially because of its awesome looks (who doesn't like a clear plastic case so you can see the circuit board?). I got it for $50 after rebate from Circuit City.

This bad boy had 32mb of RAM and an LCD screen that would tell you the name of the song and artist. You could even expand the capacity to 64 MB via a SmartMedia card slot. The device connected via parallel port but at the time nearly all motherboards only had one parallel port so I had to buy an external parallel port switch to switch between transferring files to the mp3 player and printing. The device was powered by two AAA batteries and I remember buying rechargeable Ni-CD AAA batteries for it.

I still have an SNES system buried in a closet somewhere. I would have probably been 5 or 6 when it was obtained.

Counted as "tech" when my Grandparents brought it for Christmas one year!

I can still clearly remember fights with my brother over who got to play with it .... coolest part was the section at the top of the hill that flipped the car over.

Not sure when I got it. Maybe around 2004? It didn't end up working as well as I'd have liked, and I didn't use players much til I got my e250 Sansa.

Sony Mavica MVC-FD5 digital camera - could use 3.5 floppy-disks as well as Memory-sticks.

My first actually halfway-decent digital camera.

I had this thing ... it was pretty bad as well.

It was nearly the exact same size/shape as a couple older external Creative devices I had too which was weird. (USB modem and USB-serial port)

Almost like they repurposed a bunch of leftover parts.

My ex-wife had that exact Kaypro II ... pretty revolutionary back then! :)
Yep, it used extra space on the floppies for page swapping and so could access more logical memory than it's 64k physical memory. It also allowed terminate-and-stay-resident programs. Still my favorite keyboard.

The original Intellivision ... given to me by a friend who got 2 of them for Christmas!

:D

As I recall our favorite game was called "Sea Battle" ... essentially slightly enhanced "Battleship" with some sound and animation.

Intellivision was the second and last video game console my dad bought after the Odyssey set. I liked the Utopia and Snafu games. There was a tank battle game that was okay. Back then the pictures on the boxes were always better than the actual games so you always felt cheated.

Never stopped us playing for 6 hours straight however!

Also back then (much like a hamster on its wheel in a cage) we had nothing to compare it to!

:p

I don't remember the brand, but the first cell phone I used had to be hardwired into the truck, and calls were 70¢/min.
