If you filter your water, which you should. The flouride should be filtered out with other stuff.

Do you filter your bottled water before you drink it?

Bottled water - now thats a scary subject :Q

<--- refrains from drinking bottled water after doing research paper on it.
Most bottled spring water is sketchy, if you buy Dasani you'll be fine.
I like my water from the tap run through a nice series of filters one of which has to be a reverse osmosis filter.

I drink my water straight from the tap, no filter. Have for 40 years all over the US with a brief period of bottled water when I lived on Hilton Head Island, SC (terrible sulfer smell).

People's fear of tap water is irrational.

You should stop worrying about what's NOT in your water and start worrying about what IS. I've been secretly sh!tting in your well ever since you wished me a painful death over a stupid forum post. Enjoy, turd-breath!

Yeah, ummm, Mill...

You really should stop wishing death, especially painful death, on people just because you disagree with them on an internet forum.

It makes you seem kinda off balance.

I'm not scared of tap water in the slightest, I just hate the taste. I grew up with RO water and going back just sucks. If I didn't have an RO filter there would be no way I could drink a gallon+ a day. Yeah, I'm a water snob.

Considering the well is massive and contains tons of water sh!t in it all you want.

Water supplies are fluoridated at the rate of 1ppm which means you need to intake 1 litre of water to get 1 mg of fluoride.

Adequate intake of fluoride for a male over 19 is 4mg a day and the upper tolerable limit is 10 mg a day. That means you would have to drink over 10 litres of water a day to start worrying about getting too much fluoride.

SarcasticDwarf has been trolling my threads for months now. After awhile you get tired of it. It hasn't nothing to do with disagreement but the fact that he comes into my threads to disagree with anything I say and troll. That gets annoying.

I know... but still. The best way to fight a troll is with silence. Or do what I do; ask 'em how that woody they're sportin' for you feels. 😀

I'm not here to argue the benefits. I believe fluoridation is a good thing and is healthy for your teeth. Unfortunately, I didn't know my water is untreated in this regard. There was an article in today's paper, and out of hundreds of thousands of residents in my county, there are 600 of us that don't have fluoride in our water. I am, apparently, one of the lucky 600.

http://www.al.com/news/birminghamnews/i...1170065899177910.xml&coll=2&thispage=2

There's where it mentions only 600 customers are not treated. I called my water company and confirmed I am definitely one of the 600. I certainly plan to go to this meeting and speak out in support of getting the fluoride added. I've always had really good oral health, but I've lived here without fluoride for 3 years now, and I've managed to get a cavity. I now have little doubt as to why (not a big fan of sugary things and my genes are in favor of good teeth).

This was never disclosed to me when I bought my home here or by the Water Board. They sent out a yearly report of what is in the water, and I had noticed before that fluoride wasn't listed. I just assumed that was because they added it.

how can 600 out of 100k+ be excluded?

Ahh, good old Beaufort County water. If you lived there long enough I'm sure you heard the joke, "How do you know if someone is from Beaufort County? --- They glow in the dark." All of that water was pulled from the Savannah River, downstream from the Savannah River bomb plant. Yummy!

Actually, I believe Hilton Head's water was well water... which explains the sulfer.

May have been... I was born and raised on the main island (Port Royal), so I just assumed the water was the same for the entire county.

Why would you want flouride in your water? I think the idea of drugging the public on a massive scale is pretty sick. It's one thing to have it in one's toothpase where the flouride can do it's job and react with the calcium(?) on your teeth to make them stronger but what good does flouride do coursing through your veins?
I have a freaking expensive RO system to, among other things, remove the flouride in my water.

Have you seen British teeth???

/thread

Har har.
Going with the stereotype of crooked teeth, flouride will do nothing for that. Flouride is supposed to strengthen teeth, so all you'd wind up with is a mouthfull of really strong, crooked teeth.
I had really screwed up teeth, including an underbite. I had plenty of flouride - toothpaste, flouride treatments at the dentist, and even flouride tablets - to the point that my teeth got white splotches all over them.

If you really care that much you can get a take-home floride rinse or floride-drops for your water from your dentist.

O/T: I can't drink my tap water because of the floride. After they started putting it in I got really really sick from it and would vomit constantly (which lead to drinking more water and then vomitting more).
