I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I'm starting to like Star Trek

For some reason.

I never could stomach it really before, but I'm been watching it lately (The Next Generation) and I'm starting to like it. I could do without the Wesley Crusher character. He's too saccharine.

Anyway, it seems like the positive socialist future of the world, if you can use positive and socialist in the same sentence.

Should I seek therapy?

TNG rocks! Thanks to Netf...err... My credit card... I have nearly a full set of TNG episodes ripped & encoded. 225 mb apiece, they look great. Only have one season left to do.

Well, I mostly like the scientific aspect of it. I like to see what the writers think technology will be like in the future (what years does this show take place?).

The oh-so-convenient plot twists at :55 after are stupid, but I think that Patrick Stewart holds the show together.

same here. well plus the underlying philosophical/social aspects. the show itself is kinda cheesy, predictable and often not entertaining 😀

btw it's the 24th century

If you like Wesley so much perhaps you should go visit his blog.

(Every time I visit that site I can't help but laugh out loud at his picture on the top left hand corner)

On the topic of Star Trek, I used to have some mild level of interest in it but after watching Babylon 5, I just can't stand it anymore.

Any episode of Trek I see now just disapoints me and comes across as incredibly mediocre. I'm referring to anything from DS9, VOY, ENT, and about 50% of the TNG episodes. Even for TNG, the best episodes were still "episodic" and were only good for that one episode - while in B5 you have an immense 5 year long story which is ALL good and ALL connected. You also see real character development; people who are crap actors at the beginning, giving excellent award-worthy performances by the end.
