Bruce Willis insisted his hard-living Die Hard character not smoke in the action franchise's latest sequel, because he was worried he'd encourage impressionable youngsters to take up the habit.

Willis' returns as police officer John McClane for a fourth time in the upcoming Live Free Or Die Hard, but made filmmakers write out his character's love of cigarettes.

The actor says, "It's just a nasty habit. I didn't want to feel responsible for any kid smoking to try to look cool because he thought I looked cool doing it."

I hope they took out the guns and cars too. Because guns and cars, like cigarettes, are badass.

Didn't phase me at all that the newer die hard didn't have smoking in it. Same mindless action with Bruce Willis. And where did you find this... I got the DVD last Christmas. Talk about old

I was watching the first one which made me think of this i guess. I don't see it as being a huge deal, I just see the fact that they see it as a big enough deal to write-out, to be a big deal. if that makes sense. //pussyfication something something

I don't see anything wrong with him being conscious of his status as a role model for youths. Its not like his choice ruined the movie.

Bruce has balls. Thanks Bruce for not cowering to smokers.

I'll make a point *to* see the movie now.

I thought the fourth Live Free and Die Hard just released two years ago. What are you moaning about? .... 😕

Cigarettes are gay. It just means that right at that moment you don't have a dick to put in your mouth so you substitute a cigarette. Duh.
