I'm curious... "CPU Temp" or "Core" temp"

When using a program like, say, Everest, you see both the "CPU Temp" and also a "Core" temp for each core (Core #1, Core #2, etc.) Which reading are you most interested in/report to others?

I've always gone by Core temp (when available), but it just struck me that some of the individuals who claim rather improbable cooling performance - like you see on some of the Newegg reviews - may be looking at the so-called CPU Temp, rather than Core.

Since CPU temp is a good indicator of how your cooling solution is actually working, why not just use it ?

Under what circumstances would your core temps be a problem, while your CPU was reporting an acceptable number ?

Thats the controversy and the never ending argument.
