Can anyone point me to a good book or website about Tesla and his experiments... Im very curious about all of the research he did with electricity...

Thanks 🙂

Tesla is definitely an underappreciated genius. From what I've read, he had demonstrated some things that haven't been duplicated yet.

isn't that the mark of a BAD experiment?

Interesting site on the Edison vs. Tesla feud. It was pretty nasty, and Edsion was a mean SOB. You think Microsoft plays hardball? LOL

linky

If I remember correctly, Tesla had a way to send electrical power using something like radio waves and could light incandescent lamps miles away using some type of transmitter. I don't think they've been able to duplicate it yet.

That's what i was thinking aswell.

I was thinking of making a 10ft tall tesla coil on my front lawn. It would make a fine bug, dog, cat, salesman zapper! 🙂

Tesla had some great inventions. Things like the tesla coil (obviously), radar, and a form of teleoperation. His death ray wasn't such a good invention though. 😛

Man out of Time, by Margaret Cheney is pretty good..

Also, check out:
The Inventions, Researches and Writing of Nikola Tesla, of Barnes and Noble Books, 1995.. This book actually gets into the technical details. Prepare your mind for pain.

Tesla kicked some ass.. I think he was true genius - much smarter than Edison. Tesla had a way to power the world without wires and turn the limited (by today's standards) radio specturm into an infinite spectrum by frequency combination.. Too bad we're pretty much idiots now and we cannot duplicate his findings of 100 years ago.

Yes, Tesla is definately an underappreciated genius. He's the one that gave us AC current, afterall. 🙂

I've always wanted to make a "rail gun". It wouldn't really be too hard in principal, but to make one that would fire a projectile accurately would be much, much harder..

It would be really, really cool, though. hmm. Hmmmm.. ideas.. ideas.. must write down.. hehe

I bet you could do it with a bunch of through-hole solenoid coils. find a iron tube that fits snugly inside the holes, line them all up on it right.. insert projectile.. and hit the power.. Hmm.. I'm going to have to start working on that..

I've built a miniature tesla coil before, when I was younger. I didn't do a very good job, but it still gave me nice little 1/8" blue sparks.. lol..

I've always wanted to build one that would jump 1 - 2" .. scare the neighbors.. 😉 lol

hehe, the gov't boys have beaten you to the punch, they have a really FRRRRRRIGGIN HEEUUUUUGE one that they're working on scaling down for the Army boys to put in their tanks.

KokomoGST - was it on PBS... do you remember ? I saw it but can't remember on what channel.
IIRC it was in a building about the size of an average house... it will be some time before it is incorporated into a tank.
I pity the poor sucker that ends up having it aimed at them..
