I'm craving liver and onions

Fritzo

Lifer
It's something I eat a couple of times a year, but I'm afraid to order it in restaurants because of the "never order uncommon things when you go out to eat or you'll get food poisoning" rule.

My wife, bless her heart, thinks it looks and smells great everytime I order it, then she tastes it, spits it out, and says "IT TASTES LIKE SUCKING ON A PENNY!"

Bon Appetit

I have never nor will I ever eat liver. My wife tells me the only way to eat liver is to eat it with bacon. You take a small portion of liver and wrap it in enough bacon to mack the flavor and consistency. If you need to do that to eat it why bother?

Liver and onions is not unusual, just unpleasant.

organ meats FTL.

Maybe you are low on iron and your body is craving what it needs. I also love eating liver and onions (hold the bacon), but I limit myself to two or three times per year.

Liver and onions is what I'm having for dinner tonight. Mmmm mmm good.

Me too. Gonna have peas and carrots and some hot flaky biscuits with it. Yummm!

Thats weird, the few people I know that like liver and onions only eat it when they really crave it like once a year.

Sammys in NYC has the best liver and onions ever according to my family members.... I can't even try it... makes me want to throw up..

never been a fan of eating another organism's poison filter...

Kidneys are the poison filters.

Livers are the chemical converters - some bad stuff, lots of good stuff. It doesn't store the bad stuff.

Me too, although it has been over a year since I last ate it. I have ordered liver&onions many times over the years in restaurants if it is on the menu.

Organ meats ftmfw. I used to eat liver all the time growing up as the German side of my family were pretty enthusiastic about it. I'm also a fan of other organ meats, especially in delicious sweetbreads. Toss it on some risotto with a little truffle oil and it's pure insanity.

My Polish Grandma has always been my Baba. What nationality are you?

KT

You ate your grandmother's liver? Was she a census-taker?

😉

I enjoy turkey gizzard and heart when they come with the bird.

Salmon skin is fan-freaking-tastic.
