I'm buying another unit...

Considering the price of Core 2 4300, which I can buy a higher model AMD X2....

Which should I buy????? e4300 or X2 4800+/5000+ ?????

The 4600+ X2 65W for $119 and free shipping looks like the better buy than those. Just my 2 cents. 🙂

Completely depends on if you are comfortable with overclocking. The E4300 can probably be taken to 3.0Ghz pretty easily and is roughly 20% faster clock for clock than the X2. So you could really get a lot more performance for your dollar that way.

If you don't plan to OC, than the X2 may well be the better choice.

If you're going with a 4300, you might as well go for the E4400 w/ the 10x multi. it's worth the little extra money.

and why are you not happy with it?

And why would you even look at an AMD?

Did you try to overclock it? IF you dont overclock, then okey, an AMD might be a better solution, after all, their cheaper, a bit more efficient.

However, have you attempted on purcashing a decient board, like the gigabyte DS3 and tried to overclock it?

Something easy as increasing the voltage from 1.3 -> 1.32 and then pushing your fsb to 333 will give you HUGH increases.

Google it. Look for overclocking guides on gigabyte DS3. Their should be tons of guides out and start reading and testing. I just dont see the point in an AMD Right now, when you can pick up a E4300 for the same price, and scale it up to 3.0ghz

@ 3.0ghz+ there isnt any form of competition for the C2D. AMD's lifeline is on barcelona and agenda, for you to buy a X2 right now would be like people buying Pentium D's
