I'm buying a Lian li case this week!!! Black or Silver?

Have you looked at http://www.pcmutants.com at all? They have the PC-65 w/Window for $159 SHIPPED!!

Personally, i like the silver (just bought one, hopefully be here by the end of the week)

Not sure if they are using the same finish as the black PC-12 which was terrible. Very soft an easily damaged. No comparison to it versus my PC-68. If you do go black there are several sites that have black (an more expensive) peripherials. Examples are newegg and directron.

*GASP* Is that a modded digital doc i see? 🙂 Was it hard to modify? Ive seen some sites doing the Blue LED Mod but i never wanted to try myself...

tecumseh, if I were you I'd go for the black case, they tend top look nicer IMO. BTW, admar2 nice looking rig 🙂

IMHO black as you can get more black components than silver and EVERY rig (homemade) that had painted (that i've seen) where they painted the bezels looked cheap or worse😉

my .02

hope it helped

I agree with Wolfsraider: painting your bezels (unless you're a pro) gives an unfinished look. I thought I could do it with my monitor face, but it only looks good from far far away. Go with the Black case. Lian-Li is awesome.

if u can paint then go with silver. If you can stealth mod go with silver. If you want to buy components that match your case go black

1) Do these babies scratch easily?

Not any easier than a standard steel case. I transport my Lian Li PC60 around in the car nearly every week - not got a scratch on it.

2) How about fingerprints?

Not a problem at all and my case gets picked up/carried a lot!

3) I'm really considering the black case!! Will the black case look good with the beige components? dvd player, floppy, cdrw?

Both the black and silver look crap with beige components, the easiest solution to is to paint the drive facias - very easy to do and makes the case look much better.

Pics of my Lian Li PC60 with painted drives.

Lian Li makes aluminium face-plates for several brands of cd-rom (Pioneer (not slot-in, which I have🙁), Sony and Teac if not more) and for floppy drives too, so if you're willing to spend a little more you can get silver fronts that look great with the case.

Alright for some... mine has a rather ugly scratch on the side panel. But it still looks great.

I went for the silver one because I love brushed aluminium. But beige drives do look crappy.
Overall, either is a lovely case - they're really good to work with (slide-out mobo tray anyone?) and have great cooling out of the box.

FYI
You can easily replace all the existing 80mm fans with 92's with minimal modification just in case you are interested.

where do you find these? I checked Lian Li's website, but found no mention of these.

Hmm, I saw 'em at a danish web-shop that sell Lian Li cases, I'm pretty sure they don't ship overseas, but you can check their site to see the covers: StudieData, look under "Kabinetter" and "Lian-Li tilbehør".
