Overclock that baby to 2.4 GHz--a virtual Athlon 64 3300+.

I think you've got 2 video cards in there...plus the onboard.

Personally, I'd go with a x1600 over any of the lower 6xxx series.

TOTAL PRICE: $690.61

What do you think about this set up? I already have a case sitting here, so that's not an issue. Keep in mind the total price is my budget, which is 700 dollars. Is this good for what I need (movies, occasional games, music, internet, etc)

Thanks alot

what you put together is TOO expensive for what you get. why s754? that's getting waaaay to out of date

CPU: opteron 144 or amd 3000+ (~$150)
MOBO: epox 9npa+ ultra or DFI or Asus (spend around $100)

Monitor: that's too expensive for a 17". go for a $150 17" LCD or stick with CRT for now

RAM: 1gb stick of Value Ram (Corsair, OCZ, other name brand -- pick the cheapest) (~$80)

your DVD Burner/keyboard/floppy are fine ($70 total)

HDD: the one you picked is fine (~$50)
VGA: X600XT 128MB
this should be a lot better than the card you chose, and PCI-express ($60)

PSU: Fortron 400w ($50)

this all comes to $710 (monitor, dvd rw, KB, FDD all included) and will blow what you chose away. plus, it allows for future upgradability and will give you a very good OC, so you can continue to use it for a longer while
