I'm bored, so here are some OpenBSD updates!

httpd is being cleaned up a bit (a lot). As some know OpenBSD is still using Apache 1.3.29, which was the last version before it became unfree. They have reengineered security patches, and made a few of their own. Right now several members are cleaning up some of the unnecessary stuff (the stuff that doesn't affect OpenBSD), in an attempt to make the code readable.

pdksh (here, here, here, here) is geting some work. Bash style prompts, plenty of work on tab completion, csh styled ! history, and some general cleanup work are under way. Maybe this could revive pdksh. :Q

Here is a reimplimentation of CVS to fix some of the security issues with it. This will also be under a BSD license, which makes the OpenBSD folk all giddy.

OpenNTPD is still progressing quite well. This is a smaller and BSD licensed ntpd implimentation so you don't have to use the overly complex xntpd.

OpenBGPD is a free implimentation of the Border Gateway Protocol v4.

Not too long ago, OpenBSD switched to X.org. Matthieu Herrb apparently has commit rights for xorg, so all xorg users should be enjoying some OpenBSD tech.

In kernel PPPoE has been committed, so unlucky DSL users can now smile.

Mounting FFS filesystems on Windows has gotten easier.

Information on using OpenBSD + pf + spamd to create a spam tarpit.

Yes. As you can see here, there is too much work being done for it to all be done by living breathing human beings. They must be zombies.

I know, just yankin' yer chain. Actually I had some spare $ sitting in my Paypal a couple months back so I donated it to OpenBSD. I think one of my frat brothers was (maybe still is) a contributor.

I was playing along. 🙂

That's kind of cool. I've worked and talked with a couple of developers over the years. Great guys. 🙂
