I'm back!

Hey guys,

After a long time away from here, I have returned to say Hi to my TeAm mates, and to dump a big chunk of WUs TA's way! Wooo! The last few months have been insanely busy for me. I have taken on two enormous projects for which I am to design, implement, support and develop a couple of Windows 2003/Exchange 2003 networks... Oooh the fun! But... at least that means now that I will have no trouble at all deploying SETI to about 200 computers!! Many of which will be P4 class!!

But that's not the good news. I missed my 150K mark congrats thread, but thanks so much for it! I just went back and read over the kind remarks, and really, thanks guys!! 🙂

Umm... does anybody know of a good Sysadmin in Sydney, Australia who needs work? 🙂 I'm needing to employ them!

Anyway, my production should be up to around 200/day (or more hopefully) over the next few weeks and months, before I completely get under way on my projects, (when it will increase to, hopefully, about 750 WUs/day at the current WU rate), but I don't know if I will be around here too regularly.

Anyways,
cheers and hi again

your teammate,
Pie (Andrew)

How about a good sysadmin in the US who would be willing to move to Sydney? 😉

Welcome Back PieDerro, it's great to see you 😀

Long time no see! Glad to see you around.

Welcome back cutter... umh... Pie 😉🙂 Glad you're back😀
We need your crunching power if we want to overtake BBR before Seti1 finishes.!!!

We were starting to worry about you! How's the girlfriend or is it "wife" now? It seems you stopped dropping
in when you met her and were taking courses at that time also!!🙁

Anyway Great to have you back !:sun:😀

Hope you can get your fleet back to full power! 🙂

Great to have you back around, PieGuy! 🙂

Whether it's 1 pc of 200, your production is just as valuable to us 🙂

It is really great hearing that our Commander of the Southern Hemisphere is alive and kicking. 😛 😀

You need to tell us where this Sys Admin job is located ... not Alice Springs I hope! 😉

Sydney,

Wow! Thanks for the welcome back guys.

Oh, and Tarca, sorry I haven't PMed you back, but my message box is full and overflowing, and I have to go through at some point to delete some old messages so I can write back.

Cheering hard,
Pie Derro

P.S. You would have no idea how difficult it is to find a "Jack of All Trades" sysadmin here in Sydney. As in, one of those guys who knows a lot about everything - Win2003 server; Exchange 2003 server; Networking; Telecoms; PC repairs and basic stuff like that... I'm doing ok on that front. I have almost all bases covered (I'm working through a 2000-page Mastering Win2003 server book), but I'm still to pluck up the courage to tackle Exchange. The planning scares me!

Welcome back, PieDerro!!

If we could all only follow that production! 😉

Hey PieDerro,

Let me know if you have some questions. We are smack in the middle of a migration from NT4 domain to W2K3 and Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2K3 🙂

I am at a University with over 5K workstations over 200 servers on 3 campuses. We have (including Continuing Education) about 35K users between faculty staff and students to give you an idea as to whether our situation is analagous to yours.

Chances are we have recently felt the pains of things you are getting ready to do 😉 🙂

Oh I almost forgot if you have an interest in Citrix we have implemented a 45 server application farm as well. I just finished implementing CA Unicenter Software delivery (it has been a godsend) and asset management. We had three new technology buildings go up this semester which coupled with everything listed above is why I have been working insane hours and not here as much as in the past.

Thanks for the offer Crazee!

As compared to you, I don't set up enormous networks. I just set up smaller networks, but many independent ones for different organisations (mainly schools and small/medium businesses). At the moment, I am setting up a prototype training network on 40 workstations, with 6 servers (One domain/file/email server, and 5 printer servers), and 100 users, and in two weeks will begin setting up my main project for now - A 200 workstation, 12 Server system with about 1000 users. Not that big I know, but the thing is, I am the only person doing everything. From setting up (and filling out ALL the account details - for exchange mailbox capabilities); as well as user training; workstation location management; account setup and software deployment. Basically, anything and everything in setting up an entire network from scratch, and I have to do it. And they wonder why I tell them its going to take a couple of weeks! Inserting personal details for Exchange will take me a few days on its own!

Ah well, this learning experience is great fun at the moment! Can't wait to roll seti out through the server, and not have to install it on every machine like I had to back when I was trying to run a Windows 98 network off a crippled Linux server. :/
