I'm Back / SETI Boxes

Hey guys. I used to swear by seti and I'M BACK!. I got a new AthlonXP and i wanted to see how seti stacked up on it compaired to my 1.4 T-Bird.

Anyway I'm totally back into it. i have the 1.4 basically running it all the time, the AthlonXP Machine running it often. And one more below.

My question is do any of you have any "SETI Boxes" that you just have sitting running seti? (or am I the only crazy one).
I recently Rescued an old PowerMac 9500 and its running full time. Also I was thinking of pulling out my old eMachine Hax0red in a plexiglass case to go back to seti running (266mhz)

Awsome to have you, the project is getting fairly close to the end and we need all the power we can get to help stomp a few last teams.

tRaptor, there are some 3rd party SETI utils that can show the team standings, there are some searches you can do at SETI@Home's home page, but I just look every morning for Hellburner's team stats postings: HB's Stats Post

😀

Oh, and Welcome back! 😀

Any confirmed date yet on when this current iteration of the project wraps up? If we're going to set any goals, it'd be nice to know what the time frame we have left is. 😉

I think that I can say that a great number of us have pc's dedicated to running Seti
all the time!

😎😎😎😎😎

We can take the french!

Anyway I have the 1.4 Athy, 120 Powermac 9500, Cirix 266, all fired up running now, They are slow but every "bit" helps. The AthyXP only runs durring the day (Nighttime is alarm clock, long story) When i have time I'll get the 450 PII outta the closet, and Possibly the PIII 550 as well.

EDIT: Weird thing, the Athy just went through a Unit that took it FOREVER, like 46 hrs or somthing, weird.

You must be running the screen saver version for it to take that long. Try the cli and seti driver and your time will drop to around four hour or so per wu. In answer to your questio yes 14 total machines all but 3 just crunching seti.

Read this article at Planetary Society Web site. It indicates at least 2 more months for Seti 1.

I think the reference to "two months" was concerning the analysis of the 8-bit data stream acquired during the Stellar Countdown back in March.

Regrettably, there is still no indication of when S@H-1 will end. 🙁

So, in the meantime, it is "Lookout HWF ... here we come!". 😀

Welcome back. and as far as having computers just for SETI I have 6 at the moment working on MORE MORE MORE!!!

switched all computers (Except PowerMac) to command line today, man that thing flies.

The XP got about 2.4 done is 8hrs. The 1.4 Athy got almost 2 done in 8 hrs! W00t!

Just switched the 266, it might be awhile till i see somthing from her.....

Hey welcome back to The search tRaptor 😀

Just in time to help us with on going battle with HWF 😉 ,we've passed each other twice over the past 3yrs ,now its getting time to pass them once & for all & hopefully before S@H1 ends!😉

Btw I'd guess your Cyrix will do WUs in about 50-55hrs!

Welcome back and glad to see you've been able to upgrade your machines and enjoy the new power. 🙂

On a side note, if many people are starting to upgrade , maybe there will be a bounceback in the Economy. There is a report INTEL sold double the amount of CPU's this past quarter from a year ago.
