I'll provide some details, most likely tomorrow, with (probably) some pics.
<-- Me since Wednesday evening. 😉
/UPDATE more details, pics at bottom of post:
Monday (8th): After a nice relaxing day off of work, our small party flies out to Utah, where I'll be getting married and where my parents live. Plane arrives at 11:00 PM. My parents come to pick me up, along with my fiancee and her parents. We drop off my fiancee and her parents at their hotel. I go to my parents house and get to sleep at around 2:00 AM. Must...get...sleep! Sheesh.
Tuesday (9th): All sorts of stuff happening. My fiancee and I go to the county courthouse so that we can get a marriage license. It costs $50 for a license, which IMHO is $50 too much. We have to PAY MONEY to be married?! Don't these people realize how much I've spent on this marriage already? Everybody's trying to pick my pocket! Ah well, she's worth it... 🙂 After that, my fiancee went shopping with her Mom and my Mom. I honestly can't remember what I did the rest of the day. I guess we had a family dinner that night, but's that's about I recall. Bedtime is 10:00 PM
Wednesday (10th): The big day! I'm pacing up and down all over the place right after I get up in the morning. I'm not a mess, but like anybody who gets married, I have quite a bit of anxiety and nervousness inside. I arrive at the temple where we are to be married all by myself, so that I can find some time to relax before the ceremony. Everybody else in the meantime shows up, and the ceremony commences! My fiancee looked GORGEOUS -- her dress was awesome! Words can't describe how beautiful she looks; she's never looked better in my eyes. Wahoo! 😀 We are married by an Emeritus General Authority of the LDS church, which is one of the highest positions ANYBODY can hold in the church. There are about 11 million Mormons in the World, and only about 200 of these General Authority guys. We got lucky -- REALLY lucky! 🙂 There was a small party in our wedding, but I couldn't have asked for anything better. After all the congratulations and such, we took pictures outside of the temple. Dang, my WIFE (yup, my WIFE) looked great.
After the ceremony and pictures, we had a small luncheon afterwards at a nice restaurant. The food was good, but both of us were ready to get out of there. At around 3:00, my wife and I left the party to go to the hotel where we were staying. Needless to say, once we got into the room, we got first things first out of the way. 😉 After that, we discovered a movie theater across the street. We went and saw MIB II at 5:45. Bad movie. We then went back to the hotel room and, well... ahem... let's just say Victoria's Secret is a good thing -- a very, very good thing. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along. 😉
On a personal side note, I think saving yourself for marriage makes a lot of sense. If you don't, what's the purpose of the wedding night? 😕
Thursday (11th): A nice, lazy day until about 3:30 PM, when we have to go to my parent's house for more pictures and for the wedding reception. The reception starts at 6:30 PM. It's really nice to see friends and neighbors that I haven't seen for a long time. It's too bad some people I invited weren't able to make it, but oh well... After that we opened up presents with the family. Throughout the opening presents time, though, my wife and I were PISSED because my stupid brother and his wife wouldn't control their out-of-control three-year old son and five year-old daughter, who were both in DESPERATE need of ritalin. The kids thought all the presents we got were for them ("IT'S CHRISTMAS, MOMMY!"), and as a result treated the presents with very little respect. They were lucky nothing got broke. The only thing they did was spill water all over the table and my wife. Stupid kids. At around 11:00 the presents were all opened -- we got quite a stash, but we also got a LOT of things we didn't need and didn't ask for on our registry (look for my other thread on this issue). Overall, though, things ended up well. After THAT, however, we had to take care of the stupid car I was driving back to the hotel. A bunch of idiots had to decorate it with the traditional shaving cream, streamers, cans, and "just married" signs. What a stupid, stupid, STUPID tradition. The last thing I wanted to do at 11:30 PM was clean out a car, but oh well. My wife and I got to the hotel room at 12:00 in the morning. Um... yeah.
Friday (12th): The journey back home! The wife and I woke up at 9:00 and traveled back to my parents house to fill up our empty luggage with presents. We were lucky to get in as much as we could, although the bags were sure heavy. We then loaded up my wife's parent's mini-van they had rented with all our luggage, said goodbye to the rest of the family, and went to the airport and flew home, arriving at around 5:00. My in-laws drove one way, and my wife and I drove another way -- to our first home. An apartment, actually. The rest is history, folks. Saturday was a move-in day, Sunday was church plus another move-in day, and yesterday (against all my wishes) I went back to work. I'm at work right now, too. Aagghh. Somebody, take me home, please!
The official honeymoon begins on the 27th, so up until then, I'll still be around. Overall, I really couldn't have asked for anything better. Married life so far is pure bliss. I know it'll supposedly get tough in the future, but who ever said life was supposed to be easy was selling you something you didn't need. I'll take what I can get right now! 🙂
