You can't use the LCD as a viewfinder, on a CANON rebel xt.

Is that an SLR? You can't do that on an SLR and wouldn't want to, it's a proper camera.

Most don't use it? You can't even use it as a view finder. You only see the picture on the view finder AFTER you've snapped the pic. That is how a DSLR works. If you don't like it, then it probably isn't for you.
