I can't leave for 5 minutes, can I?

:D

Looks like some people really stepped up here. Things like this may just be cries for attention, but that means attention is needed. Better to dispatch authorities and be wrong than to do nothing and be wrong. Here's a  for the moderator involved here, late at night, taking a lot of their own (sleep) time to make sure someone they don't even know is really ok.

I said kids need discipline. One of my earliest memories was getting the "this is going to hurt me more than it's going to hurt you" right before being spanked. i recognize the utility that discipline has for both the child and society at large.

I never said that the way kids have been raised hasn't changed. The way children have been raised has radically changed throughout the 20th century. Read a parenting handbook from the 20s. It encourages the parent to act standoffish and disinterested in the child. Deny affection and use the rod liberally. What I am saying is that claiming that kids now are worse than when"I was a kid" is ridiculous. Go back throughout literature of the 20th century. The whole "kids today..." theme is rampant.

I'm not disagreeing with you that kids need structure. That is quite obvious. I guess where we differ is how to implement such structure. Free will does exist and your children will (one day) make their own decisions Yes you should differentiate to your child between those who make a positive influence and those who will make a negative influence. But your child WILL make his /her own choice. You acting like a king preaching down to him/her will only make things worse. You are simply putting your head in the sand if you belive that you can control each and every choice your kid makes until he or she leaves your home.

again, not something you could possibly understand without being a parent.

bold is mine, but is it possible he is a parent????

not shure how much that helps, I'm sure the AT Mods already know where he lives, but if I can figure it out on my own, I'm gonna call the police myself, I'm gonna have a hard time sleeping without closure, so I might as well put my eDetective skills to work. If anyone else wants to help, let me know.

I really hope this is a joke, but if it is not, I really hope you reconsider what you are doing and get help. You're not the first one to have such an utter feeling of despair and a complete lack of hope, but the only thing that sometimes help is remembering those who you might hurt. Whether it be family or friends, know that at LEAST one person out there will care if you harm yourself. Don't put them through that agony, and don't end your life, you never know, you might have a bright future ahead.

He said he was on Adelphia in Los Angeles. The mods are already taking care of it, just let it go. Maybe we'll get an official update later.

I can appreciate that, but for me I'm not going to be able to sleep:

a. not knowing the outcome
b. not knowing if there is anything more I could do to help

if there is noone interested in helping me, I understand, and don't blame you. I won't keep posting updates if you prefer.

I did realize I was chasing the wrong leed tho, he shops @ fry's in Burbank

Without his IP address I'm not sure there is much that can be done.

If he was in a mental institution in high school, odds are he was treated for depression. He may even have been on antidepressants. If he's gone off of them on top of losing his job it won't help. Seeing as he is unemployed it probably means he has no medical insurance and can't even seek professional help.

Even if he's not really committing suicide it's at the very least a cry for help. Killing oneself is not the answer. If one is so suicidal that they are willing to end their life, then one should at least try drastic changes first. It's not too late to do so.

I was a t a wedding reception and talked to a guy who worked in a mental instiution and he said to due to budget cuts and ever increasing health-care costs a lot of mentaly disturbed patients are being released into the streets without the care they need. ITs funny how almost everyone "gets" ADD and needs to be treated by obtaining a percription that allows for an unfair advantage in scholastic tests and what not (sorry my own little rant there), but the people who truely need a professional to help them cannot get the help they need.

ITs a sad state that our healthcare system is in and putting ppl who need treatment (esp mentally disturbed people) on the street for the police to deal with is not the answer.

Hopefully the OP was just joking, I have a friend that has a fiance who is Bi-Polar and stuff like this makes me nervous since I know its real.

ADD is the most overdiagnosed disorder on the planet. I'd venture that 90% of the people diagnosed with it don't have it.

Me, I know I have it. My brain flits around like a TV with a busted tuner without the pills, even with things I want to concentrate on. Hell, I'll watch TV and not keep track of what's going on.

If the opening post is a fake, then it has a high level of psychological authenticity. The writer appears totally focused on his mistakes and failures, he's re-living a "life of failure" (in his eyes, at least) over and over in his mind, he's thinking in a very rigid, inflexible way, he's lost the capacity to think about future possibilities in a realistic way, he's got to the point where the only "solution" he can see for his problems is ending his life. That lack of cognitive flexibility is the classic pre-suicidal mindset. If it is a fake, then it's a pretty good one. Assuming it isn't a fake, I'd say he is in the early stages of contemplating suicide, but hasn't committed to it. This situation will hopefully result in some kind of intervention, and he will be forced to get some help for his depression by his family or friends.

though i wouldnt wish for anyone to actually do what they say theyer gonna do (in regards to suicide) but dang thats the 3rd sucide post ive seen and they all been pretty recent. i think Mik3y's was the only real one ive read, and even though i dont know the guy at all, glad he never did it.

you cant post jokes about serious things like suicide on a forum, people have no idea what to do, is it a joke is it real? most will have to to take it as real coz its too damn serious. then you make everyone feel daft for gettin in a panic over a joke

i dont believe that email story tbh, how does an AT reply window look like an email window?

people who post suicide for a joke, or attention should just be banned, people dont need it
