"I'm amazed at the question." This is how Rumfeld replied back to the reporter Monday night after hearing this asked.

"why can't reporters or civilian photographers tag along on special operations missions inside Afghanistan?"

The media, they just don't get it.

No, they don't... These are also the same people who believe that you and I deserve to have instant access to all military information about ongoing missions, even if it means risking lives...

Half the media should be shot, the rest throw in jail for sedition...

Yeah, that's just what they need on a Covert-op. A couple of idiots lugging around a big-ass camera and whispering into a tape-recorder...

<< How did he respond exactly? >>

The question put to him Monday was why reporters or civilian photographers can't tag along on special operations missions inside Afghanistan.

Rumsfeld paused for a second before answering. "Well," he stammered. "It seems," he paused again. Then, finally: "I'm amazed at the question."

Ah, yes, the self absorbed media demanding attention and full disclosure. A soldier is killed? Not a problem. We'll cover it.
Sheesh! These damn talking hairdo's have got to be put in place.

I heard that a question was put to a couple of well know American journalist in the past on a talk show and was kind of surprised. They were asked if they reporting over in a country that we were at war with and they got some information reguarding an ambush on American soldiers, would they warn our military in advance in order to save the soldiers lives. They both said "nope" cause we are journalist and not Americams when we are over here.

Hmmmm

It does prove one good point....

That information is held more closely than the press corp would like. If the media is frustrated that is good enough for me.

As it stands now OBL *probably* watches CNN just like the rest of us, why give him the same info we are privy too?

The more I see Rumsfield the more I admire his cool under stress.

*edited to make sense*
