I'm ALWAYS tired but I can't seem to sleep longer than 5-6 hours!

I took valerian root -after- I found out that Ambien did not work. I've tried Ambien, Lunesta, Unisom, Valerian Root...all with no success.

I have the same issues, but they are only present on nights when I have to get up and go to work. Weekend nights (Friday/Saturday) I sleep fine.

I generally go to bed by 10pm. Sleep ok until about 2am and then toss & turn until 6am. Most of my sleep issues are because my mind can't switch off. I've tried some over-the-counter and prescription sleep meds, but they generally leave me with a headache in the morning.

For right now I just deal with it.

how is your health? how is your lifestyle? how regularly do you exercise? are you packing a few extra unwanted pounds?

1. if you're not exercising regularly, start there.
2. learn to sleep on your side
3. if these don't help, go get a sleep study done

I'm going to get in on this thread too since I'm the same. I'll answer these.

1. I exercise 4-5 times/week.
2. Have tried...it is VERY difficult. Even bought a body pillow
3. I got one of these done but I couldn't sleep because of all of the devices hooked up to me.

I'd say I'm in very good health but I do have stress from my job/finances. I think that's the major contributing factor. I'm not sure what else to do about it. No matter what I do I never sleep longer than 6 hours...without waking up at least once or twice.

what kind of exercise? how long per session?
exercise is not only to tire you out physically, it helps release and relieve stress pent up during the day.

you probably also stress yourself out by thinking about your inability to sleep.
one piece of advice, sleeping through the night is not a telltale sign of quality sleep. it is perfectly normal to wake up a couple times during the night.

I have the same problem. I'm glad I checked in on this thread because I've never really tried out the memory foam.

Pot doesn't do the trick for me... If I smoke right before bed I end up waking up wayyy groggy.

Relieves my headaches and makes me sleep like a baby. No joke.

Edit:
About a pound of blow will help you catch up on your sleep!
Um, that would keep you up all night punching holes in the wall.

The idea is to smoke a couple hours before you go to sleep - that way you enjoy the high and then the lethargic aspect of it takes over, which just makes you completely relaxed and sleepy.

But don't smoke the night before a test or something - you'll feel too slow and stupid the next morning.

Try a tincture then. Or smoke a few hours before sleeping, rather than just before. Or a strain not so Indica.
My roommate can't smoke (COPD) and uses an oil tinture as a sleep aid.

I'll give it a shot. I'm gonna have to start keeping 2 stashes then, I normally don't go for Sativa's if I can help it.

I also forgot to say that a vaporizer is less harsh to the body and might ease the after effects.

A good friend of mine always had sleeping problems. Went to a clinic that monitored his sleep; he found out his body stopped breathing an average of 30 times an hour. Got a CPAP machine, and after the first night of using it he felt like building a house; the difference was remarkable for him.
Amen to this!
I , too had a friend, who happened to have all the classic symptoms, nodding off in the day, weight problems, the whole list practically.
Never entered the conversation until I helped him move his boat from Tahoe to the Bay Area and had to stay at their place the night before the big drive down the hill.
That guy snored like nothing I've ever heard before and I've spent a great deal of my life on Rock and Roll Tour busses. I know from snoring.

I was on the other end of the compound and he freaking woke me up !!! Next mornign I told him he need to get checked out because that "snoirk.... pause............pause............ pause............still not breathing....plewurlalplaa[cchh" thing he was doing aint right.

Long story short, If you have sleep issues, do the sleep apnea self check list and then get looked at. A CPAP machine can save your sanity.
