Relatives in Chiba, have heard they are alive but since they are poor the situation is pretty dire (laid off from work, supermarkets bare). Phones are also intermittent so not a good situation.

Terrible situation. Phone lines between JA and other places are pretty bad, but internal lines seem to be working just fine. If you want me to call anyone, please let me know.

brainhulk: It was a tough decision, but everyone begged me to get out. I tried to take the g/f with me, but no trains running where she lives and no gas. I don't have a car/bike and no one in tokyo will rent them. It sucks pretty bad, but there was nothing I could do... still pissed though
