I'm afraid to purchase Watch Dogs...

This game is pretty tough compared to others in the same vein. I need more practice shooting with a controller again, but if I botch sneaking up on somebody and they call reinforcements I'm screwed. Same with car chases. I've been pretty surprised at the AI with car chases. They do a really good job trying to box me in and direct me into poles and such. I like it

Also, is there a penalty for dying? I've only ever died during a mission so it just puts me back at a checkpoint, but I don't know if I even lost money. Not sure what happens if I die during free roam.

I have not paid attention to any death penalty. I like that the cops will use the various roadblock devices to stop you and you have to disable them. It is a refreshing thing to actually need to think instead of simply drive fast to get away.

The free roam sucks compared to GTA 5, the only online mode I can play is the 1 vs 1 hacking

Ahh ha, but gta5 didn't work for how long? Plus gta5 is only for griefers anyway. I never once saw anyone play that game without doing stupid suicide crashes into you with jets, just shooting you randomly, and killing you when you are on the phone. It really is the worst online experience ever.

Where do you find homes to hack into?

Look for the eyeball on your map and find the router interface for the building. Sometimes you have to route power from a second device elsewhere. With your phone out check around the router interface for white lines. Follow the lines to connect the boxes and then you can hack in.

There are also bodies hidden around the city that give you clues to hunt down a serial killer.

Ha that's pretty cool I guess I should progress to the open your world mission and open up more locations.

I also like how easy it is to get online or join someone's game. It takes less than a minute for me and when you are done you are right back in your game without any loading or long wait times.

I need more time to play to discover all those things you mention. I also like how the road blocks are set up. Escaping is way harder than in gta.

I got stopped by a spike strip and at first I had no idea what happened until my car sounded like a trolley.

You need to hack the ctOS towers to get the Home Invasion side missions, like mentioned they show up as eye balls on the map.

Do you not have any friends? My group would just make a private game and roll through doing all the missions. GTA was one of the best online games for us, way better than what this game is offering.

Yeah I tried with people but it would almost never connect all of us at the same time. It was very bad. I think when they fixed that stuff I had already gotten rid of it to get good value toward xb1 and ps4 stuff.

For me gta v sucked online. My friends and I would connect, then get thrown out, or our characters would be deleted. Sometimes we all didn't have time to connect at once so two of us would show up in free roam and try to do missions with others who would just not do anything useful.

The difference here is that online is split into different sections. I like that layout better and the loading is less. The game modes I feel are something that could be added.

I always found GTA as a whole to suck, but that's me. I'm liking this more, no question. The driving, like was said, it can be tough to escape. I was doing one where I had to intercept some dude, then get away, and I had to try it several times before finishing it. I could get the guy in the armored truck down OK, but his gang would follow me FOREVER.

I'm wondering though, how are you guys using your skill points? I think I have about 6 banked right now, as I only used 3 or 4 of my initial 5, and I've only used 1 or 2 since then. None of the skill trees seem to offer an ability that I feel like I must have.

You just said you're having problems during chases, so start unlocking more things you can hack while driving. Bridges, steam pipes, stoppers, etc all help you escape. More battery will let you use those more too.

First thing I upgraded was my battery then some of the hack tools. I didn't spend too much time on the driving section. I think I've unlocked the coms jam but I'm not sure how to use it. The rest of the unlocks it tells me I have to get up to the mission open your world.

Yeah, I'm waiting for Open Your World before I start spending as well, want to get those unlocked and see how much I can put into the skill trees.

Later on you are able to hack more environmental items via the skill tree. Once you get to a certain point in the game they start to unlock. The combat abilities also get much better (for shooting).

I think that the world feels more real than GTA that's for sure. With all the personal info on the NPCs, the hacking into homes getting up close and personal with the people living in the city etc. GTA feels more like a cartoon where you see a handful of characters and the rest of the background doesn't matter. It's just there, a lot of empty and unused space. The story in GTA5 was well done, but so far I feel that Watch Dogs is much less juvenile in it's approach. There's adult topics in GTA for sure but approaches them like a child. Always the crude joke that doesn't shock me nor does it make me laugh. It's like a child who learned the meaning of a dirty word. Watch Dogs feels more grown up to me. That's how I feel anyway. I take nothing away from GTA. Rockstar does what they do well, but that doesn't include making a game feel alive and real. They are good at satire and building a violent adventure for your character. This game seems more intricate to me, there's things hidden that weave their own story into the game world. I don't think GTA has quite the same touch.

Yeah, that's what I always hated about GTA. It always felt like a Family Guy game, full of childish jokes and behavior. I mean, I liked some of what it did, but it was so cheesily outrageous at times that it turned me off.

But I just unlocked the rest of the trees and spent all my points. None of the combat points seemed worthwhile. I think I grabbed the required first combat one so I could get the decreased damage, but that was it. I mostly spent stuff on the hacks, wanted to get more stuff to play with.

The faster reloads, faster weapon switching, burst precision (better accuracy with full auto weapons), steady aim, blast resistance(lower damage from explosions which later on you will need), bullet resistance, and stealth sprint(sprinting has a reduced detection radius) have been extremely valuable to me.

When you start fighting enforcers and getting into firefights you can't just run from, you'll want these.

Gta story was good but it felt a little lacking. I felt like it should have had more something to it, more heists or background. The world in watch dogs definately feels more real and I enjoy that. Which is the reason I don't mind the other things like the driving and ragdoll physics. I'm excited to see what they will put in watchdogs 2.

I'll have to keep that in-mind. I almost always avoid shootouts, having really only been in one so far, for a mission. I killed probably all but 2 or 3 of the guys with the environment (exploding stuff, on-person explosives), so it wasn't bad.

I've gotten the extra hackables, except the chopper hack (never causes me problems), then a few things here or there. I think I have close to 10 points banked, so I'll check those out in a bit.

So this is a GTA knockoff? If so, I'll pass.

Uh...no. Maybe you should do some research(the game has had info and videos out there for over a year) or hell, read this thread for crying out loud. Sheesh

It's very much not a knockoff and in numerous ways better.
