On the bright side, those are in fact banana plugs. On the downside, that variety is 100 times more of a pain than this kind.

I agree with a prior poster - I suspect you may have installed your speakers out of phase. Double-check that you connected red-to-red and black-to-black. The banana plugs shouldn't have hurt your performance at all.

Primus 250 front
Primus 150 rear
Primus C25 center
PS-8 Sub (yeah it sux)

and I've been using 16 gauge copper cable to hook it up and it's sounded awesome, so I figured, if I got some banana plug tips it would sound even more awesome (because I was just using bare wire, and i figured banana plugs would provide more contact area). Now after $50 of tips, and 2 hours of crimping, I set it all up and find out that the sound is very.. well.. different. the problem is, I don't know if it's better (as in i've been listening to crap and now it sounds more excact), or worse (as in theese tips actually induce more resistance and mess up the sound). So I guess my question is this, Do banana tips improve performance or decrease it, and did I make a huge mistake in buying theese tips?

16 guage? Thats fricken small, I use 10 guage for my speakers...

it depends on how long you run the wires. there was a website that calculates the theoretical threshold length for each guage.

If the polarity is good everywhere, wigle every connections and see if that makes a difference. Some speakers have built in circuit breakers buttons on the back. Press them all to make sure they are set properly. The only other item remaining is the amplifier. Check all the settings on the amp.

You should not hear any difference unless something is REALLY wrong. If the shoe fits, wear it. :)

I unplug and plug in cables all the time, and like to try it out on different speakers, etc. I think it was a good investment.
