I have the following ht system

Infinity...

Primus 250 front
Primus 150 rear
Primus C25 center
PS-8 Sub (yeah it sux)

and I've been using 16 gauge copper cable to hook it up and it's sounded awesome, so I figured, if I got some banana plug tips it would sound even more awesome (because I was just using bare wire, and i figured banana plugs would provide more contact area). Now after $50 of tips, and 2 hours of crimping, I set it all up and find out that the sound is very.. well.. different. the problem is, I don't know if it's better (as in i've been listening to crap and now it sounds more excact), or worse (as in theese tips actually induce more resistance and mess up the sound). So I guess my question is this, Do banana tips improve performance or decrease it, and did I make a huge mistake in buying theese tips?

UPDATE: HAHAHAHA Stupid me, Was playing a CD I had never played before, turns out it was recorded in crap quality bahaha. All my other music sounds the same. Thx for the help :D.

theese are chrome/gold plated. So faster means the signal goes faster, correct? therefore better sound?

He's being sarcastic.

As far as I know, banana tips shouldn't change the sound at all. You surely must have done something in the process. Have you been playing around with settings on your reciever or anything?

You paid $50 for Crimp plugs? Y-I-K-E-S!

The Nakamichi sets on ebay from HK are tops.

Banana plugs are useful for making installations simpler. Easier to just plug it in then fiddle with bare wires.

Unless your wire was not placed right in the speaker than it should not make one bit of difference for sound.

How in the hell did you take two hours to install banana plugs? That makes me wonder if you somehow did it wrong. It should take about 15 seconds per plug. True banana plugs shouldn't help or hurt performance, but those crappy pin-type connectors will hurt it a bit (in addition to being a colossal pain in the ass to install).

I've never done it before, and alot of times i would forget to put the plastic cover on, forget to wind the cable tightly, lol I had to throw away like 4. but no i did do it right.

Yeah, I just noticed that. OP, I don't know what happened, but its clear that somewhere during those 2 hours, something did happen. Go back and check all your connections and see if you've messed anything up.

Sounds like you got pin-type connectors rather than banana plugs. Those things suck.

You might have reversed the polarity on some of the speakers. It would make them sound different. The banana plugs should not change the sound.

No double barrel? Pulling both triggers at the same time really makes the kick drum kick. ;)
