It's in the mid 70s here today...and it's overcast.

Weird weather for SoCal in July/August. It's been sprinkling the last few mornings and humid as hell.

Yeah Chicago gets as hot as it gets cold. In 1995, a heatwave struck the city. It was determined that in that one week, 465 people died directly due to the heat, and the total deaths for that week were in fact 791 over the norm.

"Chicago felt tropical, like Fiji or Guam but with an added layer of polluted city air trapping the heat. On the first day of the heat wave, Thursday, July 13, the temperature hit 106 degrees, and the heat index?a combination of heat and humidity that measures the temperature a typical person would feel?rose above 120. For a week, the heat persisted, running between the 90s and low 100s. The night temperatures, in the low to mid-80s, were unusually high and didn't provide much relief...

The morgue typically receives about 17 bodies a day and has a total of 222 bays. By Saturday?just three days into the heat wave?its capacity was exceeded by hundreds, and the county had to bring in a fleet of refrigerated trucks to store the bodies..."

And they've had at least one heatwave in 1999 and then plenty of 100 degree days.

Milwaukee is just as hot, and polluted as Chicago. I know what you guys are going through.

Charmed, AZ usually has the dry hot weather, which I can take. The Chicago / Milwaukee area gets the nasty humidity from the Gulf, and it makes a nasty day with the pollution.

Even with the A/C running in my house, it is 79 in here. I have been hanging in the basement most of the day, where it is a cool 60 :p.

In NY, it's pretty hot too. For around here 90+ is horrible, and with a heat index of 105 or something like that, people will probably be getting sick. My uncle died on a day like today after painting outside for most of the day. He got sick, and colapsed on his way to the bathroom from a severe heart attack, probably related to the heat. Good thing though, the doctors said he died within a few seconds. RIP. :(

When it gets over 106° F for weeks at a time, then they complain. :D

I don't think people who live in the Desert are allowed to complain about the heat.

Chicago is 1000 miles away from the deserts, 1000 miles north of the gulf of Mexico.

I'd think that it's far enough north that it SHOULD NOT GET SO FUGGIN HOT THAT PEOPLE ARE DYING DUE TO THE HEAT. However, several people have already died this summer due to the heat here.

If it gets above 85 degrees, I'm complaining about the heat.

Now in the winter, when it's 30 below Zero, I won't complain. This is pretty far north, it's supposed to get fvcking cold. It's not supposed to get fvcking hot!!!!!!!!!

God fvcking dammit I want to move to barrow or antarctica.

I would take 106 and no humidity any day instead of 90's and humid as heck. BTW I have had family come from places where it is 100+ degrees for most of the summer and complain about the heat in Illinois, so while I can't speak for Chicago, central Illinois is BAD in summer most years. (moved away don't live there now) Not only that but it gets bitter cold in winter as well, so people in Illinois get to complain :)

It doesn't usually get this hot. Usuallyit's is just enough to piss me off and make it slightly miserable for me to be outside (mid to upper 80s, lowwer 90s sometimes, 80% or more humidity). But this summer has made me downright loathing the weather. (~100 degrees, 70% or higher humidity. I could bake a friggin pizza just by leaving it in my car when I'm parked at work.

also,
just so my claims about the heat deaths aren't thought to be randomly spouted made up BS. Here is a link :)

I just braved the outdoors for about 3 minutes. I can already feel the tingling in my skin telling me it got some sun. Weather report says it's 88, but that's a typo, it's actually closer to 188.
