I am at a loss, can someone please help me troubleshoot my computer.. my thread in Technical support has been ignored for about 2 days now, and im at a loss as more and more problems keep developing, being solved, and spawning new ones.


Right now im at a point where NTLDR isnt found so windows cant start, yet the windows recovery CD says "inspecting hardware configuration" then spins down and leaves me at a black screen...

If anyone can at least try to help me, can you IM me some sort of IM or MSN contact, or anything I can talk with you in real-time with.. I just purchased a new hard drive/video card, and need to know if that was a mistake, and if its the motherboard or processor thats fscked... Thanks..
 
this computer has a 20 gig harddrive, cant save much, but I CANT EVEN REINSTALL WINDOWS as the windows CD wont load.. It did earlier today and yesterday, but stopped when I swapped video cards...


only have one hard drive by the way.

here is the deal..

PC was crashing with Radeon 9600 Pro

so I tried to swap a Ti4200 128mb in to check if the video card was the problem

windows corrupted and said system32/system folder couldnt be found, so I had to repair windows through a prompt to be able to boot, and it crashed uncontrollably on the Ti4200, so I switched back to the 9600 Pro

now it says ntldr cant be found, windows wont boot, and I cant even get the recovery console to work..



Could this just be a hard drive problem, or might it be motherboard?

What components would this be..

 
Sounds like your hard drive may not be recognized in BIOS. Check the jumper settings on the back and make sure it is set to master. NTLDR is an error that says it cant find the operating system. Everything else in your computer should be fine (as shown by being able to boot to the XP cd). Just the hard drive you need to worry about.

I CANT boot to the XP CD... it blackscreens and spins down.

I used to be able to earlier today... not anymore.


I know what an NTLDR error is and how to fix it, the issue is I cant access the recovery CD, my computer crashed insanely when it was up, and im trying to figure out what component is the culprit so I can replace it...

It says that then blackscreens and spins down..
 
The error (missing NTLDR) is caused by corruption on the HDD/partition/boot record.

Not being able to boot to a windows CD indicates hardware failure of the mobo/cpu/memory, or a bad disk/drive/IDE cable.

Run memtest86+ from www.memtest.com for several hours, or until it generates errors. Any errors=fail. The test won't stop until you stop it (turn the PC off).

The video card is not causing the problem.

Thing is, before this hard drive crap began, it was freezing on any video benchmark or any 3d game, so I was assuming the video card had gone bad..

I have an order for more money than I can afford on newegg that was just shipped for a hard drive and a video card.. I had the PC working last night for a few hours after doing a fix for the registry becoming corrupt, and even then any graphics crashed the PC..

could this be a cpu/motherboard problem? Ive allready memtested the ram and prime'd the CPU though.. so im tempted to blame the motherboard, and would the CPU or Mobo problem manifest itself through the 3d game errors as well or ?
 
Yeah, I'm betting it's a memory problem. Isolate the memory sticks one by one. You might try just reseating them first, though.

it spins down because there is probably a problem with your hard drive. Check in BIOS to make sure it recognizes it properly ie. 20gig. Reseat the cables, remove all anything other than hard drive from one cable. CD Rom on the other.
