I listed my SETI@home nickname the same as my nickname on Anandtech.

Here's what I'm running so far, may add another system(Celeron 633@775 w/256MB pc100) when I get it working again.

System Specs:
MSI kt4vl
AthlonXP 2000+
1GB pc2700
80GB WesternDigital SE (8MB cache)
ATI radeon9700pro
Win98SE(should have WinXPpro in 2-4weeks)
Running SETI client(gui 3.07) on dsl set to always run.

Question does WinXPpro process seti faster or slower than Win98SE?
Is there anykind of log file generated that gives personal statistics on SETI?

Welcome to the team. Nice rig you have.

Windows XP and 98SE should process WUs in about the same amount of time if you turn off all the flashy eye candy in XP. The exception to this rule is with VLAR WUs (Angle range of .100 or lower) where XP will not be slowed by them as much as 98SE will.

First thing to do is uninstall the SETI GUI. Someone will show up shortly with a link to the instructions to setup the CLI, it's waaayyy faster.

Welcome to the TeAm!! :D

Definitely get rid of the GUI version and get the CLI, much faster wu times!

Edit: Click the TeAm Anandtech SETI link in my signature for instructions on how to install the CLI version :)

And remember to:
a) Remove SETI GUI
b) Turn off screensavers
c) Turn off any hibernation/sleeping/harddrive powerdown, etc
d) Let 'er rip!

I use a blank screen saver, have to due to VPN to Unysis for work.
I never use power saving stuff, creates too many problems.

Yes, it's only returned wu that is counted.

The easiest to make sure you don't download a new wu, is to put a file called stop_after_send.txt into the seti@home-directory.

1 GB memory? Isn't it win9x that pukes if you've got more than 512 MB... :)

Yes, I already know you need to go to msconfig and limit it to 512MB otherwise the swap file gets severly fubard. I'm in the biz, field engineer guru type. like I said before though I'm waiting on WinXP which doesn't have any problem addressing 1GB and more. :)

Thanks for the welcome guys and/or girls.
Crunched 3&1/2 WUs so far after changing to cli. When does it transmit the results?

If you are using the cli and seti driver just connect to the net and click transmit. If you have a perment connection just check the auto transmit box.

I had it set to autotransmit already, but like a newb, I misspelled orangekids proxy name, I spelled it orangkid.
They are transmitting fine now. Thanks for the help. :)

Is there something that can be done to get the inactive guys cruncing again? At this rate I'll be in the sub 1000 ranks before Christmas. Not that I don't mind climbing ranks 250+ a day mind you.:)
