Serious question. Does that work? I've stopped using the traps after I caught 3 skinks in my shop. I want them around.

It did something like 20 years ago when my Dad caught mice in glue traps. We tried vinegar, but it didn't do much. I'd seen some mention of lemon juice as a solvent for computer circuit boards, so we tried it on a stuck mouse and it worked. He released several out in the boondocks.

No idea how it would work on a skink, though. Their bellies might be too stuck to the glue. :(

Meh, I have a little shit dog whose favorite activity lately seems to be catching moles (hours and hours and hours spent searching for them each day). Apparently, they're reproducing under my wood piles faster than he's killing them (a rate of roughly 1 every other day). The cat has been getting in on the act as well, getting rid of any mice that venture too close to the house. So, it's easy. I just pick up the dead bodies that both seem to always leave in the dining room on the floor, then I flush the dead bodies.

I used to have a cat in the winter would hang out in the basement and leave one in the middle of the kitchen almost every day when I got up.

Had a score sheet up on the fridge when he started doing it, I'd toss em in the trash and give him a treat.

Glue traps seem a bit off to me, why not just a regular mouse trap ?

Seems sadistic if you're just going to kill them anyway.

If Karma is true, you might have fun in the afterlife if there is one.

You should at least kill them with a sledge hammer or something to take them out of their misery.

i prefer snap traps as I don't have to physically kill them and feel bad about it. Kinda hypocrite I guess since I still am the one setting the trap. I just don't like to make an animal suffer for no reason.

The other advantage of snap traps is they can act as electrical switches so you can monitor them from a remote location if they're in a spot that's inconvenient to go to. I have 6 of them in my attic and if they go off I get a notification. Thankfully they have not gone off in over a year so I may have figured out how they were getting in.

you didn't force them to go in to the trap thats a choice they made.

I never thought of it that way, and this contraption actually does look like something from saw: :awe:

Mice are not very smart though, if they see one of their buddies squashed with about a foot of blood spray from the impact, they'll just go to the next trap and get dinged too. :awe:

One experience with glue traps is why I learned to master the snap trap instead.

I couldn't throw the face-planted glue trap in the garbage where the mouse would slowly starve to death in my apartment, so I did the only humane thing I could do, which was to throw it out the window onto a busy 3rd Avenue during rush hour in Manhattan.

put 4 glue traps in my cupboards. Check them all today and there was 4 little mice all looking at me with terror in their eyes.

I swiped them all into a plastic bag and dumped them all into the garbage bin.

I have to live with this.

You beast! It's easier when you give the glue traps to your cat. In a dumpster they starve and dehydrate themselves to death. You should feel guilty.

The no kill traps are the best, the ones with the one way door and a clear window on top. If you have a friend that has a big snake or carnivorous lizard they can use them for feeding. Otherwise you can take them elsewhere and release, or you can submerge it to drown them or freeze them in the freezer.

When times get hard you can eat them, or feed them to others.

You can drown them. It's a lot better than letting them linger for days in the trash.

Fuck...can I borrow that dog for a while? We're over-run with moles around here. EVERYONE has "mole hills" in their yards...and they're making a mess of our "golf course."

Mayne, you're a terrible human. As your punishment, you should never post here again.
