The urinary tract ultrasound story.

Tomorrow I'm meeting with my doctor to find out the results of my ultrasound. Already, I have gotten results in the mail, although I'm not sure how to interpret them. Apparently I have at least one cyst on my left kidney, and a cyst on one of the Boys. Also, I have bacteria in my urine, which might indicate some type of infection. Everything I've read on the internet says that these cysts are most likely nothing to worry about, but there is a possibility that the one on my kidney is very very serious.

I'm a perpetual optimist, but I can't help worrying a little. I'm sure these will turn out to be nothing, but I could use a little comfort right now.

POST APPOINTMENT UPDATE:
First off, thanks to everyone who posted all the kind remarks. It helped.

Now for the news: everything is fine.

TMI Warning: a lot of personal health info follows.
I have several tiny cysts on the Boys, but those are normal, common, and OK. I came away with the impression that they are related to age. The cyst on my kidney is 1.5cm. The doctor said that it is also normal and common, and that they don't usually worry about cysts of this type unless they are around 6cm. In spite of that, they scheduled me for another ultrasound a few months from now just to make sure its size hasn't changed. As for the urinary tract problems (which is how all this got started), they don't know why I'm having these problems, but they have ruled out all the major possible points of concern (cancers, prostate, etc). The doctor thought that it was probably just a mild infection.

I thought I had a cyst on my left nut also. Went to get it checked it out via the Dr and it SOMEHOW disappeared. We both tried to find it and I couldn't find it. I was able to find it for at least 5 days prior though...weird. But hasn't appeared again :thumbsup:

Thanks guys. Other than my wife, you are the only ones who know. I didn't want to tell anyone I actually know because it might get back to my parents, who have enough to worry about without having to worry about this.

It feels nice to have told someone.
 
This is why getting old sucks, at least they'e not shoving a camera up your ass and wiping it so its not as dirty.
Just think of that.
I'm sure you'll do find. And if you're a male, urinary infections are bad, think, if you're a women they'd be twice as worse.

I'll give an update when I can, but I have to go to work immediately after the appointment until 11pm. It might even be Wednesday before I can update.

The good news about a problem with a kidney is that at least you've got two of 'em. 🙂

I had an infection in one of my kidneys at birth that mostly destroyed it. So, I guess that means I'm out of a back-up. 🙁

Seriously man yes.

I went to find it, couldn't and was like WTF?! I swear the night before it was there and same with the previous 5 days before. I could have gone earlier? So me and the Dr took turns trying to find the dam cyst and we couldn't haha.

So after a while we gave up and she told me to come back if I found it again.
