I'm a little confused here about the VP debate polls

According to CNN, MSNBC, Fox, ABC and others the VP debate was a tie. Yet these same web sites own online polls, had Edwards winning by a pretty good majority (70% on msnbc, 80% on CNN, 60% on Fox even). Suddenly all these polls are taken down and they say it was a tie? Did I miss something here?

Yeah, I was kinda surprised last night when I looked at foxnews.com's poll and it had Edwards at somewhere in the 60% range.

Were the CNN et al polls online too? Because the internet is more weighted towards Democrats. Why? Well Democrats have more of a belief in science and are more educated and have more access to computers as a result (some people have really difficult time using computers-- especially Republicans that like to sit in front of Fox News). So basically you have overrepresentation by Democrats.

Now what I've heard is that Edwards won among un-decided voters.

CNN had the poll online on the main page up for about 40 minutes last night following the debate. The Poll had over 200,000 votes and Edwards at 82%, then it was suddenly was replaced by another poll (if the debate changed your vote). MSNBC and Fox kept thiers up untill late this morning when they posted news stories that it was a tie. Poll came down and story went up.

Many online polls don't limit by IP address but, rather, are based on cookies. Delete your cookie and vote again.

...because the liberals mass-emailed the sheep to spam online polls to show support. Clearly, they are gasping for air and fear the outcome come November...too funny. I'm not looking forward to hearing the neolibs whine for another 4 years, but, as John Kerry would say, "c'est la vie."

Maybe some little mom and pop site uses this flawed method but I know for a fact none of the news sites use cookies for controlling voting. They use IP address.

The GOP did the same thing, "JohnGalt".

And the rabid-right sheepherders did exactly the same. I'm sure the freepers and other conservative blog-slaves were "flooding the zone" last evening.

Yeah, online polls are heavily weighted towards liberals. That's very obvious.

Anyway, when you go into the voting booth will you care what the polls said about who won the debate? I didn't think so.

🙂

Yep. But what I think these polls do say is that a lot of people didn't care for Cheney's smug, elitest attitude. And it didn't help when he said he has never tied Iraq to 9/11 and msnbc pulls the video right after the debate from Dec 2003 and showed where Cheney directly tied Iraq to 9/11. So he flat out lied and was caught.

It's an amazing thing. Infohawk says, "Well Democrats have more of a belief in science and are more educated and have more access to computers as a result (some people have really difficult time using computers-- especially Republicans that like to sit in front of Fox News)."

I bet you think Democrats are better at math, are better looking, have more fun, and love more people. In other words, Democrats are paragons of humanity and Republicans are 3rd class loser idiots. Christ, your supra-partisan ramblings make me sick... your a reverse Rush Limbaugh X 1000. You people don't talk politics, your brainwashed zombies.

That's not a lie. There are nuances to the principled policies of the Bush/Cheney team. Suffice it to say no one has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Saddam did not have ties to 9/11. Accordingly, it's perfectly reasonable to say it's a question open for debate. In the bizarro world of the GOP, it's essentially a requirement.

Classy:

I'm glad someone else besides me cringed when they heard Cheney make that statement. I almost fell out of my chair when he said it. The balls of the guy must be the size of truck tires. Sheezh, gotta' admire his moxy, but it was a flat out lie and the BIGGEST LIE OF THE DEBATES in my view.

And Rush still has the excuse that opiates contributed to his adherent distorted mentality.

Unless Infohawk has something to tell us?? lol

And some Republicans are wasting the taxpayer's money posting on forums when they should be working. Hint hint. 😉

...could be argued that posting on public forums is a public good, thus not a waste of taxpayer's money 😉

Alternatively... you are in deep deep dooodooo.

Dems sure do own the Repugs with computers though--explains Anandtech. 😉
