No it isn't. The legal drinking age on a military base is defined by the state's laws when in the US. AFAIK Alaska is one of the only states with a younger than 21 drinking age.

We live in a capitalist society where the most visible measure of a person's worth is their contribution to the national GDP.

That said, in my corperate and governmental endeavours, I have contributed more to the GDP than every 21 year old I know combined. I am on track to buy a house before I am legally allowed to drink. I already own my own car and am a completley self supportive, contributing, mature member of our society. I am on the cusp of graduating with my 4 year CS degree in 2 years 9 months from day 1.

People who would discriminate me because of my age (car rental companies, and the LCB) can go to fvcking hell. When I'm done working my 50 hour week that keeps the damn LCB's inventory system functional, they owe me the RIGHT to purchace my own beer.

That said, I still think the drinking age is BS. Like you said though, now that I (and most of my friends) am 21, I dont seem to care anymore.

The point is that a person has the ability to go to war at 18 but not the ability to drink. That a person can join the army and drink does not invalidate the argument.

Most bars will not serve military personel under 21 AFAIK

Appears I was mistaken:

The only exception to this rule is if the base is located within 50 miles of Canada or Mexico, or a state with a lower drinking age,
Not sure where I heard from otherwise...

meh. You guys know why its 21 right?

Alot of 18yr olds are still in highschool. 18 male gives 14 year old female drink. Baaad thing.

Any 14 year old that wants alcohol can get it. Just go to any highschool party, and you can get free drinks until you throw up, many different drugs, anything you want. Anyone that thinks otherwise is fooling themself.

then why can't we just get a stamp to say we graduated HS and anyone who graduated HS can drink?

I'm not saying that there shouldn't be restrictions, but they should be on maturity, not some arbitrary age because it leaves people like me who may as well be 30 or 40 for my role in society completley in the fvcking cold!

Alcohol abuse among teens in the US is a problem BECAUSE of the high drinking age limit. It is quite simply the 'forbidden fruit' syndrome.

EXACTLY. If more kids drunk in HS, there wouldn't be nearly the college drinking problems... as kids would know how to handle it before they didn't have the lack of parental supervision in college to keep them out of trouble.
