I know legal drinking ages are bullsht. I know that other countries without them are doing just fine. And yes it's stupid a kid can die for his country but not drink a beer legally. I was very vocal speaking out against the drinking age.

But now that I'm over 21 I just don't care anymore. Anyone else feel apathy to a cause after it couldn't effect you in any way?

meh I'm 20 and drink anyway. If I can vote, am considered an adult by the government, can fight/die for my country, and am responsible for my own mistakes I think drinking should be thrown in there too. My parents don't really care that I do either as long as I don't drive anywhere after having anything.

I dont drink now and I dont plan on drinking when I turn 21 (currently 19 years old). I dont care what other people my age do as long as they dont get wasted behind the wheel and crash into me on the road.

Underage drinking in other countries is not as much of an issue since most youths do not have access to an automobile. They can let them drink at 10 if they want as they are going to climb on a bus, a train, a bicycle, or walk. Young people are not responsible enough to manage all the priveleges we give them at once so we hold back on the drinking, which is a good thing.

For Males they should raise it to 25 and for Females they should lower it to 18.

Kids are going to drink if there of age or not.
Where im from, its 19, but ive been drinking since 15 and in bars since 16.
There needs to be some minimum age, just to make it more difficult for minors to obtain alcohol, but 21, that seems a bit old indeed.

never a big issue

not like the drinking age stops anyone that really wants to drink

i don't smoke either but i would be for legalization

but neither have ever been a big deal to me so i guess i'm apathetic about it as well but i never cared before or after I was 21

Drinking age should be 18 only if the individual is serving or has served in the military. Otherwise keep it at 21.

I think it's fine (over 21).
I know they'll drink anyway (as I did), but I don't think we need to make it easier for them.

If they lowered the drinking age to 18, people would start at 15. Think of it like speed limits on roads. The posted speed limit is there, and everyone goes 5-10mph over it, but if they were to raise that speed limit to counter for that fact, everyone would simply drive 10mph over the new limit.

i don't believe this is the case and in the case of speed limits (at least on highways) this has been shown not to be the case afaik.

Ya, 'cause the age limit now stops kids from drinking at 15.

If you're doing to drink at 15, you're going to drink at 15, regardless of the age limit.

The whole "I can die for my country but cant drink" argument is mostly BS though since the legal drinking age on military bases is 18.

That said, I still think the drinking age is BS. Like you said though, now that I (and most of my friends) am 21, I dont seem to care anymore.

The point is that a person has the ability to go to war at 18 but not the ability to drink. That a person can join the army and drink does not invalidate the argument.
