Yes, there is nothing there between the electrons and the nucleus. In fact, there is a whole lot of nothingness between atoms in a solid, just look at Rutherford's gold-foil experiment where he shot alpha particles at the gold-foil.

Nope, just empty space. I would argue against it being a "vacuum" since you are within the confines of the atom. It is just empty space.

Actually, what you have there is space swirling with the activity of virtual particles and lowly-probable electrons and nucleons.

Keep in mind that elementary particles are not like little billiard balls bouncing around everywhere. They do not have "edges," if you will. There is no definite place where a particle "stops" and empty space (or another particle) begins. Rather, there are places where the probability of a particle's existence become so low as to be negligible.

Anybody with a more thorough understanding is welcome to clarify further.
