From my understanding unemployment checks are pretty weak compared to disability so maybe hack your hand off with a utility knife?

I did that. It's REALLY REALLY hard. Taking classes during the summer session(s) helps a bunch but you don't have much of a life for a few years.

You live a sheltered life, huh? Some of us actually have to pay for college ourselves. I worked 60 hour weeks and went to school fulltime in my undergrad.

Mommy and daddy pay for you?

Depends on what they fired you for. For instance, if you hurt your hip like me and could no longer make production (146.7 out of 150 damnit!) it's not your fault but they can fire you. If you relied on the income and your work was acceptable for long enough, you qualify. They may dispute it but you should win.

and we wonder why taxes are so high, get a different job or a loan, dont be a little bitch about it and suck it up. stop trying to get off free

to bad the internet is anon or i would send your state this so they knew you what you were doing and then you wouldnt get a cent. maybe youd even spend some time in prison for fraud. oh that would include mail fraud to since you have to send your form in :)

What?!

Taxes don't pay for unemployment, unemployment insureance does. This is so that your employer wont fire you for no damn reason. This means that you, your coworkers, your ex-employer and your successor pay for it. Not only that, why can't you make the connection between trade school and work? Many job programs send you to school and pay for it. Unemployment is no different: They want you to get trained and get a job. For instance, I have A+ Certification and about a year of a two-year degree under my belt. It's a lot harder to get a job in my field without a degree and so it makes sense to go finish a little more of my education. I actually wouldn't be able to go back to school if I still had to work full-time so thankfully unemployment will give me $100 a week so i won't go under. It seems like the absolute best way to use unemployment and you seem to have something against it. WHY?

On reply to my post here, I had a friend who got laid off because a Super Walmart came into town and killed the small chain grocery stores. He ended up making more money off unemployment per week than he did at the actual job. He was a full time student in the State of Indiana as well. Don't know how he pulled it off either...

I've been working for this company for about a year. They screw me every chance they get, and I'm sick of it. I want to get fired so I can collect umemployment. Also, if you get fired in the middle of a sem. heading towards summer... i could collect unemployment until the end of the summer and be fine. =)

Boy are you showing your true colors and they sure aren't pretty. You are a whiney little bitch who doesn' like his job, join the clup and the real world. What makes you different from the vast majority of people is you think it is OK to purposely get fired so you can collect unemployment and suck off the taxpayers. You are a douchebag.

If you don't like your job then find another or quit and do without like a real man would.

I've been actively looking for another job for the past 6 months. I live in south jersey and i want something in my area that pays 10+/hr. Without a degree that's hard to find even though I have 4 years work history at an ISP. I really have been looking though... I check the newspaper every day, call them, send resumes, e-mail, craigslist. I've just not been having any luck.

If you were in my situation you wouldn't be too happy either. They keep shaving my hours back saying they need to cut down on payroll. I haven't had a pay increase in over a year. My job title is technical support however they send me on a service call about 4 times a week, and i'm not paid service call wages. I make the least in the office. They try to put down incorrect hours on my check which I have to correct each week. I'm sick of it...

I want to get fired and collect unemployment so I have time to look for another job. I could look harder if I didn't have a job to eat up the rest of my free time. And everyone that says stuff like "your a lazy douche bag" etc, stfu cuz my check has some kind of unempoyment stuff already taken out of it so I just want to take advantage of a service I have paid into.

I do technical support for a local ISP. But I also have to handle billing stuff, repair/fix pcs, work on servers, residential and business service calls. 10hr... I should be paid more.

You don't deserve unemployment and I highly doubt you will receive it in your situation. Just look for another job now, and when you find one quit your current job like most people do who can't afford to be out of work.
I can understand giving unemployment to people who get laid off, etc (extenuating circumstances), but in your situation I doubt you will be entitled to it just because you don't like your job or get yourself fired.

Man... it's not just that I don't like my job. I could deal with that no problem. They just screw me every chance they get. I was told I would be reimbursed gas money when I do service calls... no such luck. They take hours off of my work saying that I took breaks, when really I was right about to take a break then I got sent on a service call. So not only do they not reimburse me for gas, they send me on a service call where I have to drive like 20 miles, AND I DONT GET PAID. They screw with me man... that's why I don't like it. It's not just disliking what I do it's there messing with me and I'm sick of it. I want their unemployment insurance to go up...

I don't want to commit fraud. I want to intentionally get fired so that I can collect unemployment so that I have enough time to look for another job.

Then do it. Though your employer has the right to dispute your unemployment insurance. Which can cause it to drag on for a long time.

You also only receive a certain percentage of your average pay over a set amount of time. That's how it works in many states. So you really only receive around 40% of your pay, which you have to pay taxes on.

Really, how much time do you need to look for a job? It's not an 8+ hour a day event.

I pay taxes just like you. I'm sure I've paid enough over the last 5 or 6 years that I have worked to receive unemployment for a few weeks to look for a new job.

I know this... but being a full time student and having a full time job I don't really have time to do much during "business hours". I have been looking though, I swear.

I would actively be looking for employment somewhere else, and once you find it, leave the company your with. Sorry you have to go through all that, because I have as well, but the best thing to do is find another job first, then quit.

not everyone has to get a full time job to pay for college if their parents can't afford it.

Tell them you are low on gas and can;t take any runs. If they fire you then you can apply for unemployment if they did say they were going to pay for gas.

Other then that, suck it up and quit and find a new job.
