Yeah, I'm majoring in CS, but I absolutely HATE coding. But it's too late to change my major without doing the 5-6 year plan. What kind of career opportunities are out there for someone with a CS degree besides programming?

other relavant info:
i AM passing all my CS courses with at least a B...
networking is fun. i'm into hardware too.

try computer graphics.
it's still a lot of coding but you might enjoy it!

Is it too late to double major? That might only add a little more time on and increase your options.

Don't major in something you hate, you will be working in starbucks in a couple years cause you hate your job.

well most jobs out there nowadays aren't really strenuous coding unless u work delevoping apps or games or something. And your major may absolutely have nothing to do with your job. I was talking to guys who were premed and went to med school only to work in wall street. CS majors get tons of jobs besides programming. you might though want to get experience in the other fields.

very insightful...
yes, i will definitely never go into something that I have no enjoyment doing or no interest in, no matter how much they pay...

specifically, what are some viable options?

i was thinking about computer consulting <-- elaborate on what they actually do plz.

or the guy in big companies that takes care of the network and runs around the office whenever someone has computer problems. not really tech support, but in a way... anyway, what do they call that guy?

network admin is the guy that runs the networks and the guy that runs around is the helpdesk technicians or tech support.

A CS major by no means you'll be coding, most likely far from it. A CS major is the gateway to many jobs in the industry, be it networking, tech support, coding, etc.

There's plenty of options as others have already stated. I personally despise help desks, there's no way I will work at one. Sys Admin and Net Admin is good though. I personally am both and it's basically zero coding (cos I hate that programming stuff too :p). The only problem is users in your face but if you get a job at the right place it's excellent.
