There's got to be more to the story than just that this guy doesn't like you for no good reason.

dude i do my job, i do it well, I'm never late, I never leave early and i ALWAYS go out of my way to handle what i need to do, and stuff i'm not SUPPOSED to do(meaning ****** that's outside the scope of my job description)

i know i'm still a kid (second job since graduation, 23), but i realized how easy it is to piss people off, even if you don't mean it. fortunately i had a friend who was nice enough to tell me.

i'm only 24. that seems to bother alot of people because of my strong IT background.

so your not getting fired based on your job performance, but rather because some guy doesn't like you? your not tellng the whole story here man, something else is up.
yOU'RE NEW AREN'T YOU? That sorta crap happens all the time. Welcome to the New World Order.
Another reason for Union representation.

New World Order? You must be the noob since this has been going on since the dawn of mankind and will continue as long as man inhabits this orb. It is how things work, right or wrong it doesn't really matter. BTW, unions are dying if you haven't noticed, their day has passed. Watch as the UAW crumbles as GM wriggles it's way through an impending bankruptcy.

My guess is they're going to give you a choice of a different (yet crappy position) or for you to voluntarily leave. (I've seen it happen exactly like that, they call you friday say "we need to talk on Monday" and drop the bomb. They do that to let you stew over the weekend to get yourself upset enough to prefer leaving over the said crappy position.

well, right now basically my job is to keep the entire infrastructure of a retailers advertising team together. that entails everything from server management, database management, computer administration and applicaiton administration down to running proofs of ads back and forth from my company's office to the company that i'm on site at. my official title is "on site administrator". i've never once been late, nor have i ever failed to do my job. however 6 weeks ago the company i work with(not for) brought in a new creative director to handle the VP side of the advertising department. he hates me. it's a deep down kind of hate too, and i'm not sure what i did to make him do this.
so... this week one of my bosses told me he has a meeting witht he creative director at the unnamed retailer to discuss my companys job within their infrastructure... and one of the things they reviewed was my position and what i do there at the retailer. according to him "you've done an outstanding job at what you do". today he went into the meeting and left without saying goodbye to me like he normally does. about 4:00 i got a call from my company's big boss saying "charles, you need to come in here and we need to talk about some things before you go out to gardenrige on monday"

ok, so i freak out. i called him back about 15 minutes later and asked him what was going on, is my job in jeapordy, etc and all he could say was "I can't talka bout it". maybe i'm jumping to conclusions but the only thing i can think of is the creative director went into my boss and said "well i don't think we really need charles around here, and if you want us to continue to use your services you need to get rid of him"

it pisses me off that i couldn't just find out today and that i have to wait til monday. luckily enough i know my company gives a minimum of 2 weeks severance when someone is let go, I also have 84 hours of vacation time accrued so i know i'll get compensated for that, so that gives me 4 weeks to find a job. again, luckily, i have very generous parents. I went and talked to them about my situation and my mom said she's be able to pick up my car note until i can afford to again. that's a major relief.

cliffs:
i think i'm gunna get fired on monday, and i wish they wopuld have done it today to get it over with.

well, if you get fired it will probably happen on Friday. Statistically there is less chance of an outburst that way 😉

You said you're the only one with the admin passwords, cabinet keys and other limited access keys...
Either they will not fire you,
or they forgot to ask their legal department

Because the latter would've known how much wreckage you could do in less than 48 hours...

rofl

I know. i guess that's why my boss wouldn't say anything about it. pretty easy to tear up a standalone raid 5 array with 100 gigs worth of advertising data.

Break off a pin in 2 of the drives, reconnect, laugh hysterically.

Legally, you could probby do something that would completely fvck them over - and you could legally extort money out of them. It happens often in the IT industry.. Often some guy knows all the source code for a certain piece of software and the company cannot understand it after the original guy is terminated. So, they are forced to hire him under his circumstances.. You just have to do your LEGAL research.

If they terminate your position or give you an option to leave, I would do it - and do it right away. Leave before they have a chance to ask you for anything. Then, when they realize they're fvcked because they don't know how things are set up, and try to hire you back, you negotiate a temporary contract for consultation at a VERY expensive rate.

Also, at the point they terminate your job, you can also try keeping silent. Like, if they ask you a question while you're cleaning out your office, you can just say something like, "I will seek legal advice before answering any further questions." Then, just be polite otherwise and head out.

Watch Office Space as sympathy. And as they say, less problems if fired on a Friday 🙂
You'll be alright, don't worry.
