i would vote for indiana, if i had the right to vote.

Il is so f'd up. My univ stopped funding more than 50% of the students recently, atleast in my dept, and if things don't improve, they are planning to impose furloughs on faculty and staff.

If Cook county was its own state that place would meltdown so fast...the rest of the state has to support all the lowlife trash there.

What I find so amusing though is it's long Dem controlled, so, it should be a huge utopia if you just listen to the Loony Left. Instead, it's so F'd up the people who live here all know, for real know, just how F'd up it is. Yet.....they keep on voting these some folks/types of folks in.

My town is on the southern border of Cook, we actually have parts of the town in Will. I just wish we'd cut some kind of deal with Will where we could fully go to their county, and then give Cook the finger. I doubt Will would want us though.... :(

We'll trade -- we'll take southern Illinois and Chicago can have Gary. :D

I would absolutely vote for that, and then just move out of IL for either IN or MO (St. Louis area). At least SI would be spared from the idiocy that is Chicago/Crook County.

Maybe central IL could half/half ceede to IN and Iowa?

At least that way the people in the northern half could deal with the monster they've created and not affect anyone else by it.

It's mostly because of the huge population in Chicago, even most people I meet in the northern suburbs are republican. I live on the northern border of cook, last year the city I live in was talking about leaving cook for lake county, it would have been pretty nice if they had.

I know, I lived in Woodridge and Lisle for about 3-4 years, definitely more Republican there. But all the suburbs of Chicago are so close to Chicago, that if new state boundaries were actually drawn, no way would they be outside of the new Chicago state. So basically they're/we're (since I'm in one of those suburbs) screwed.

Because if too much gov't is the problem, more gov't must also be the solution!! Makes perfect sense!
(This also works on the federal level)

Indiana is a paradise compared to some of these places and their financial woes. Our governor should run for President -- the man knows how to cut, cut, cut. Probably why he washed out of the Bush administration. :)

Compare population density and financial problems, not location.

So you're saying that Chicago's population density is the largest reason it has financial problems, or am I misunderstanding you?

For me, it is irrelevant anyway. Indiana is in relatively good shape financially, along with only a handful of other states. I expect it will likely stay that way and I have no intention of leaving. :)

Cut cut cut and win an election???? Never happen.

As we saw in the last election, whoever promises the masses the most in the smoothest used car salesman manner is the one who gets elected.

Remember: It's not competency or honesty that gets one elected, it's how slick you talk and how stylish you look.

Yes, I doubt Mitch Daniels would win a national election anyway. Even lots of people here in Indiana are pissed at him and dislike him -- the usual suspects like teachers unions, state government employees, etc. His nickname is "The Hatchet" and for good reason.

Basically if everyone dislikes you, you're either doing something very wrong or very right. If your results suck, probably because you're doing something wrong. If results are good, then, probably you're doing it right.

Sounds like "The Hatchet" is doing it right.
