Oh my, gee!!! I sure as hell bet the Denver jail would have room for me if i did this and i have NO criminal record. this crap must stop!

Here is the link to the original stroy.

On talk radio this morning it was announced that the suspects were bonded out on 50K bonds so only 5K. these morons have rap sheets longer than my arm consisting of weapons charges, other auto theft crimes and many many failure to appear.

WTF!

Cliffs:
Undercover Denver cops gets spoted doing surveillance on the car thieves.
car thieves give chase try to ram undercover cop off the road.
marked units respond to undercovers call for help
suspects ram marked cars trying to kill those officers
suspects captured sent to jail
Monday morning released from jail.

Well when you have huge percentages of people locked up for petty drug offenses this is what you get.

No room for the REAL criminals.

It's even worse in California, just look at the Paris Hilton/Nicole Richie/Lindsey Lohan crap that has gone down in the last few months.

Odd ... I know if this guy were a citizen he would have made headlines as they try him for attempted murder and a host of other charges AS THEY SHOULD

Yep, wasted resources on phony drug war = much less resources to go after serious criminals (anything with bodily harm, harm to children, harm/theft of property).

This is America, where our priorities are all f*cked to hell and gone. After all, violence is celebrated on TV, but show a nipple? OMFG it's the end of the world!

Yeah, why is this another "bash illegals" thread? I will admit I don't have the statistics for the Denver area jail system, but I have a pretty strong hunch that it isn't full because there are so many illegal immigrants in it, but as other people mentioned... drug offenders.

I have no idea why you think that your citizenship status would affect the bail presented to you or your odds of incarceration however other then simple ignorance. If you have some sort of statistics that show illegal immigrants are significantly more likely to be released then citizens for the same crime I would be very interested to see it.

Well I don't know if these numbers are 100% accurate considering the source, but in a quick search this is what I came up with:

"The Department of Justice reported that at year-end 2003, federal prisons held a total of 158,426 inmates, of whom 86,972 (55%) were drug offenders. By comparison in 2000 federal prisons held 131,739 total inmates of whom 74,276 (56%) were drug offenders, and in 1995 federal prisons held a total of 88,658 inmates of whom 52,782 (60%) were drug offenders."

Text

So it's good the percentage is going down, but look at the raw numbers, between the 1995 and 2003, the Fed Prison population almost doubled.

Cops always love to cry about getting rammed by by suspects in a chase when 99% of the time the cops is trying to get rammed by the suspects.

"Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said the suspects apparently called friends and asked them to help by crashing into the police cars. A second suspect car entered the chase, a green Lincoln Continental."
