Illegals Dying in Arizona

12 illegal aliens recently died while crossing through Arizona's 110 degree heat. They aren't the first this year, and they won't be the last. I'm sure we'll see a few more running gun battles between competing "coyotes" (human smugglers) while traveling down the interstates also. Kinda makes driving interesting around here...

I find it disgusting that Mexico supports the illegal immigration... after all, the money those people send back ($15+ billion) is their second largest economic activity (and just for the cost of a few hundred dead each year). It's funny that when the Minutemen were down there, the Mexican military was conducting "operations" in that area as to virtually stop the inflow of border croseers in that area.

I find it disgusting that so many people in America don't care, or actively encourages the crossings. And national security is supposed to be a big issue?

I find it disgusting that a handful of Republicans in Arizona are trying hard to deal with this situation, but others from their party are too busy chasing them evil homosexuals around to help. And forget the Dems... they might as well be transporting the illegals themselves.

This has to be one of the most underrated issues of our time. It affects so many aspects, but I guess people just basically have said "the hell with it."

talk about a sticky situation. on one hand you have starving desperate people trying to do something for themselves, on the other you have national security, and the crime that comes with it being illegal. mexico has never tried to do for it's people what most modern countries have done, whether start a welfare state or create decent jobs that people will work. it's turned into a bloodbath with no end in sight. i don't know where i stand on this issue as many of my friends here are children of illegal immigrants, and so many people are dying. ultimately i have more reason to support it than fight it. but don't get me wrong, i am torn. i'm not fond of borders in the first place to be quite honest.

It's illegal and needs to be stopped. That's all there is to it. Our leaders of both political presusions need to be somehow held accountable. The people who hire them need to be held accountable, and so on right down the line.

Up until recently I thought that it was impossible to stop the flow of illegals accross the southern border due the length of that border and the depressed mexican economy.
However it appears there are only a few hundred miles of our southern border that is passable and the minute men proved that a small force could effectivly stop the flow.

Also, the money that illegals send back home to mexico surpassed the income of the mexican state owned oil company, making this mexicos largest "industry"

We are nation of immigrants, but let them come through after propertly completely work and getting approved.

Not sure what you want me to care about. That some people knowingly breaking the law died? That we did not have agents there to arrest them instead? That they have a lousy federal government?

Perhaps one day global warming will give us a large, impassable desert between Mexico and the SW that will stop them from even trying to cross.

And if "national security" has somehow come to mean "impenetrable boarders" to you, you've been grossly misled.

Migrant workers from Mexico and other South/Central American countries are coming here to do the work that Americans are either too lazy or proud to do.

Because these migrant workers come into the country illegally, our society can exploit their situation, essentially driving wages down.

American society is as much a part of the problem as the Mexican government...if we were to provide immigration procedures for these migrant workers, such that they become American citizens, it would enable them to demand higher wages and other benefits...this would of course drive some prices up for service industry and other manual labor related products...from hotel room costs to fruits and vegetables...and Americans just simply cannot live without their bargains.

I drive by a Home Depot on my way to work every morning, and the parking lot is overflowing with Hispanic workers, and most of them are probably illegals...and sure enough, every morning you will witness contractors drive into this parking lot to pick up a few of these workers for various construction jobs. So long as Americans value getting their manual labor on the cheap, the illegal immigration problem will persist.

Just like the Southern European immigrants of the 1900s, America should essentially establish an "Ellis Island" for migrant Hispanic workers...while it might drive costs up for certain industries, these workers will also receive their paychecks on the books, which our government will tax...similarly, it will essentially dissolve the illegal smuggling rings and cartels that exist along our borders...it will also reduce costs associated with illegals using hospitals and other resources for health care...and this will extend to illegals driving without licenses and other problems that currently plague areas where illegals work and live.

Of course Mexico supports illegals. Money sent back to Mexico from illegals is a major part of Mexico's economy.

That is why either Mexico needs to become the 51st State or cut off the human from Mexico and the money flow to Mexico.

I'm leaning towards "Annexation" of Mexico.

I will spell out the main ideas of my proposal on my Blog.

The identification of undocumented migrant workers was one of the major themes of the forensic anthropology section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences meeting in 2004; there probably about a dozen speakers discussing this issue. Most reported seeing very high increases in deaths since 2001, when the borders were tightened (pushing the migrants into increasingly remote and inhospitable crossing routes). One gave the estimate that about 40 out of every 100,000 apprehended die crossing the border, whereas in 1998 that number was 5 out of every 100,000 apprehended. These figures, of course, don't include those deaths not discovered/reported to authorities. Many of the forensic anthropologists on border states (including one from AZ) indicated dead migrants comprised about 10-20% of their caseloads.

Not a good situation.

You find it discusting let it makes perfect sense. I don't understand.

What Mexican terrrorists are there? show me last time a Mexican tried to blow up WTC?
Nope just the opposite. They come here work hard take jobs lazy whites and blacks won't take. A house would cost double if you used exlusive native labor. Same with groceries. Be careful for what you ask for.

Immigration has always been a point of centention for the lower class in this country but they are too myopic to see the larger benefit. First it was the Irish all pissed the the italians were allowed to come.. then the blacks sought to curtial the numbers for 60 years after they got freedom.. now it's the lower class of all races again fretting.

This is the biggest fvcking load of horse$hit I have ever heard and I'm damn sick and tired of hearing it. It is such a cop-out. Just something people say to justify the need for having all these illegal aliens flood across the borders. If the need arises, Americans will step up to the plate and do the job. The problem is why hire an American and pay them a fair wage when you can exploit undocumented aliens under the table and not have to pay for health care benefits etc. . .!? The argument, "they are doing the jobs Americans won't do" originated with the very people that hire the illegal immigrants to begin with so they can feel justified in putting otherwise hard working Americans out of work. I call BULL$HIT! Shenanigans! It is an excuse to make dirtbags feel better about themselves for exploiting people. And quite frankly, although they are willing to work long and hard, the work they produce is often of inferior quality. . .It just takes them twice as long to do a half-assed job. I guess you get what you pay for.

[EDIT] Oh yeah. . "They took our JOBS!"

Immigration quotas are a joke. I believe Mexico gets 60,000 a year, not near enough to meet demands of US economy. We had 10% of mexico's population here in illegal form or 11 million and it's still not enough. Thousands of jobs need filling.

Thing is, those 11 million "workers" are also consumers. Get rid of those 11 million undocumented / illegal consumers and demands on the economy fall commensurately.

That's Bullshit - the 'Minutepinheads' stopped the flow in a 20 mile stretch -
the crossings continued in areas slightly to the East and West of their campout.

everybody pays taxes.. the mechanism is quite simple for those contractors.. even if they pay under the table they pay taxes for the illegals on the moneis they paid them (usually at a higher rate even) since they can't write thier salary off as an expense.

So how many illegal aliens are you employing anyway? Even if the person hiring the illegal contractor has to pay more taxes on their earnings up front, that doesn't nearly come to the amount it would cost to have to provide actual employment benefits and fair wages to workers. The person hiring the illegals still comes out ahead despite higher personal income tax their individual earnings. Your rationale is the same as the people who say "I'm hiring these guys to do jobs Americans won't do." So I ask again, how many illegals are you employing currently?
