No, you can't get him fired for that. You're not giving us the entire picture, because I don't see how you went from walking into blockbuster to lying about your giftcard to an associate. Ordinarily when you go to purchase something and brandish a giftcard, we'll ask you how much is on there, or if there is enough on there to cover the balance, because we have to enter in the exact ammount to process a giftcard transaction. If you told him $300, he/she would have just merely done the transaction. Something was fishy, and your response to where you got the card is odd as well.
