The Government of Mexico seems to encouraget their citizens to jump the fence. Why?
Because it loses a lot of its unemployable people and then they send a lot of money down south, Mexico benefits from them. Essentially it wins on both counts.
Of course the thing about not wanting the jobs is a bogus pathetic argument. Canada doesn't have this massive illegal immigration problem and, with a very similar economy, has no problem filling the low-end crap jobs.
Actually Nik if you bothered to educate yourself you would find that immigrants are usually the cream of the crop of the country they came from. This is slightly less true of our southern friends because of the ease of entry.
I would not say "usually" in the case of the US, because the majority of its immigrants are illegal (I think; I can't imagine more than two million/year coming in legally). In most cases, like those who are coming in legally, yes they represent an above-average from whence they came. Indeed, to come to the US legally for most people the best option is employment based, which is lawyers and engineers, not fast food workers. A lot of these people are ambitious and well-educated. Moreoever, a lot of these people appreciate and respect the country they've moved to.
However, when you've got scores of people cutting fences and jumping ditches, and then working in low-income jobs (partly due to lack of options for an illegal, and partly due to lack of education), I'd hate to think they are the cream of the crop.
Deal with is and embrace the people that are coming to America legally and yes illegally! The American landscape is changing and to be honest there is nothing you can do about it.
Wrong, it's their country, why can they do nothing about it? The politicians just don't care enough, even though Americans as a whole are very much against illegal immigration. Let's take your thoughts further: Should the US open its borders and give greencards to anybody who can get a bus ride to the border? Every country on the planet has immigration policies, enforced to various degrees. The US has immigration policies as well, because it's a good idea. Where it fails is enforcing them.
Anyhow, deporting is a total waste of money, in reality, because they'll come back up. The way to fix this is to limit the attraction of illegals to the country. That's easy: start enforcing federal laws that are already on the books that say "do not employ illegals." i can find you scores of illegals being paid, but the authorities don't care. Go into any of these employers or construction sites and start levying fines against employers, and you'll see this problem fixed properly. Of course in the interim the illegals who are here will be attracted to nefarious sources of income (crime), but then that's the US' fault for waiting so long before not allowing them in. So, then another alternative is to have REAL border security. Currently it's just a facade.
