"Illegal Floating Point Operation" going DivX to MPEG1

MadRat

Lifer
I am trying to convert video clips sent in DivX/AVI form back to a format that I can play in a DVD player, namely MPEG1/DAT format.

The problem is some of the clips bomb out in mid conversion and say "Illegal Floating Point Operation".

Anyone know a fix?

What program are you using? Try Tmpgenc if you're not using it..just use your favorite search engine

Sorry, forgot to mention I am using TMPGEnc 2.58.44.152 on an AMD XP1800+ and a KLE133 chipset, both which have been otherwise problem free. It does its problem in the exact same places in files so this isn't a random bug in the program.

Try this, open it up, go to Options, then Environmental Settings, then click on the VFAPI Plugin tab, choose DirectShow Multimedia File Reader, and then right click on it, choose Higher Priority, you'll have to do it a few times, so it's set at 2(you can see the number on the right) and then exit, and open it up again..now try. Let me know if this works, if it doesn't I have a few other things we can try..

It made it through one of them, will try the big file tonight when I get home from watching the game, NU game of course! 🙂

Haven't got around to trying it on the big file but it did make through all of the little ones.

Why does that change work?
