Yes, I CAN blame the realtor for selling out the laws of the land and national security for profit. :|

So illegal immigrants who can barely speak English and make minimum wage can afford housing, but a natural born American cannot?

I see where the problem lies, and its not with the realtors or immigration.

Why???

Great workers for contractors, which keeps prices nice and low.

And keeps American workers out of the jobs. You really do hate the American people. Its all about you and your miserly ways.

Well, not if the realtor is not breaking any laws. If what s/he is doing is legal, then our free market society protects that act of commerce.

If the realtor IS breaking the law, then s/he should face the consequences.

So you support exploiting illegal labor at wages below market just so you can save a buck?

The 2004 metro area unemployment for Baltimore was 7.9% and for the County, just 4.3%. Why can't you hire the many unemployed from Baltimore city?

Baltimore Unemployment 2004

You aren't from Baltimore are you ;).

Ahhh, let me check.

Nope, that's a big negatory there good buddy.

Wow that a nice comment full of BS.

Unless its factual slavery, someone offering labor of thier own free will should not and is not illegal.

As for the "below market" value, that is BS too. If someone is willing to work for that pay then by that very act means that it is withing the market. If someone wasnt willing to work for that price then it would be below market value.

Minimum wage, is government intrusion on the free market, it seeks to artificually raise the market price.

But you cannot stop the free market, government intrusion or not.

Not Bs and I am not implying slavery at all. What I am saying is that contractors and otehrs will exploit illegal immigrants and their children becasue teh contractors know these illegals have no where to go. And what they are being paid is still a lot more than what most if not all could earn in Mexico.

That still does not make it right. There are business ethics and business can do the right thing.

I do not like government in my life at all. And I do not like the minimum wage laws. It skews the economics badly.

So do I, but legally.
What's the difference?

One has followed the rules, gotten a work visa, green card working toward citizenship.

The other entered the US illegally - breaking the law.

Consider the consequences of their existance; work for less than minimum wage, effectively fills in the gap of no minimum wage (maximizing employment according to economists); they are consumers and potentially home-owners simulating the economy just as much as every other american citizen. Not only that, but they were able to prove the "land of opportunity" statement correct in the sense that they have started with nothing and made a life for themselves without having to become wealthy in their home country first to come in legally.

When was the last time that any of you had your rights trampled on because some poor illegal immigrant wanted to buy a home?

If illegals

pay taxes
obey the law (besides the part about entering our country)
work hard and make a living

then they have more of a right to be here than a lot of legals

 to home ownership for these hard working Americans

I see, so filing some paperwork and paying a few fees makes one better than the other?

Home ownership for illegals HELPS our economy. To own a home, they need a Tax ID (which means they are already paying their fair share just like the rest of us), and buying a home means they helped pay for the jobs of contractors, laborers, agents, financiers, etc.

Yep you get 20 of these illegals funneling the money to one that is legal and they pay for house in cash, I've seen it with my own eyes in the lawyers office.

I never claimed you implied slavery, however IMO unless its actual slavery then people can decide for themselves if its worth it.

That still does not make it right. There are business ethics and business can do the right thing.

Yes because someone having not having a job or a chance at a job is alot more ethical than paying people who are willing and able to actually work.

So cry about it.

Someone's living arrangements or method of payment is neither my business or yours.

How did you know they were illegals, and why did this make you move?

The subdivision became overrun with them, difficult to drive through the road because there was vans parked everywhere on both sides of the street and the yards.

The houses got trashed, unkept and multi-colored when they did paint.

Latin Graffitti got painted everywhere, fences, street, street signs, electrical boxes etc.

Extremely loud as they would play latin music all through the night so you cannot sleep.

Also loud with all the roosters and chickens howling from the backyards.

I can go on and on but you should get the idea.

This should happen to every Elitists subdivision on this board.

Amen to that.

I just do not get how anyone can argue that exploiting illegal immigrants is ok just because you saved a few bucks when your house was built by an illegal. Quite frankly, I suspect they didn't save any money as the contractor probably pocketed the difference.

Why doesn't anyone look at the obvious problem here.

Do you think that these 'Illegals' are getting the best interest rate on the mortgage ?
Anyone think that they're able to finance in the 5 % to 7 1/2 % range?
Want to bet that they are paying above 10 % for the convenience of NOT being a legal resident ?

What do you think about what is called 'Predatory Lending Practices' ?
Is it OK to rip people off because they are not in a position to take legal action against a company that plays them for quick large profiteering ?

How many do you think get taken on a joy-ride for their 'Investment' when they miss a payment & the lender kicks them to the curb
and takes the property because they know that the buyer does not have the recourse to take it to the agencies that could protect them -
if they weren't 'Illegal' and would face deportation if they were exposed.

I don't care if they sneek in and try to better themselves, and contribute to the good of our society, but to have realtors and
mortgage lenders actively encouraging the circumventing of laws for their own fast profit reeks of a conspiracy against those who are legal citizens.
