Ill. lawyer objects to buxom woman at trial table

CHICAGO -- A Chicago lawyer says his opponent in a small claims case is using an unfair tactic by sitting a buxom woman next to him at counsel's table.

Attorney Thomas Gooch says the woman's sole purpose "is to draw the attention of the jury away from the relevant proceedings" - a dispute over a used car. He asks Cook County Circuit Judge Anita Rivkin-Carothers to order the woman to sit in the gallery with other spectators.

In responding to the pretrial motion, attorney Dmitry N. Feofanov said the woman is his paralegal assistant and contends Gooch cites no "good faith legal argument" why she can't sit at counsel's table. Feofanov, who in the past has described himself as a "consumer protection lawyer," asked Rivkin-Carothers to impose sanctions on Gooch for his motion.

• GA was advised via PM prior to the post by Perknose. I was courteous enough to not issue an infraction or warning.
  
• Within GA post; there was no indication of the source or that the post was in jest. Based on his posts; it could be an attack.
  
• Given GA track record - he can not afford any mis-steps. Mosquitoes are safer on water than the ice underneath him.

Rather than appreciate the fact that someone trying to help/keep him out of a mess; he publicly complain about it. That is a excellent way to expedite his exit out of AT.



As for the GoodRevrnd; it is advisable to keep your nose out of matters where you do not have all the information to avoid a Mod callout infraction.

I'm not one to question mod actions (ok, maybe I have been known to do so in the past), but there has to be at least 100 different examples of someone writing "do you know how i know you're gay?" in Off Topic alone.

I'd run the search, but apparently putting " " around a search string doesn't actually search the exact phrase.

Godless certainly has a long track record, but it's not like he's posting something that hasn't been posted at least a hundred times before, presumably without infraction.

You were just given the courtesy of a mere warning for improperly "discussing" mod actions here and not in the only appropriate venue, Moderator Discussions.

Now take some time off.

Furthermore, for all you wannabe mods here, lets review the fact:

1. GA posted "do you know how i know you're gay?" NOTHING happened to him for this, NOT ONE THING, NOT EVEN A WARNING. Got that?

2. GA then posted "Yay, I'm about to be perma-banned for posting a quote from 40 Year Old Virgin. That certainly seems fair." For this he received ONLY A WARNING, no points, nothing more!

3. The GoodRev improperly stuck his nose in this. And he only got a warning. Next time, he gets a vacation.

4. Now Jeeebus, who got only a warning for doing the exact same thing yesterday in another thread, again sticks HIS nose in this business.

5. Folks, if you have a question or a reaction to any mod action -- REAL OR IMAGINED -- the only appropriate place for discussing it is in Mod Discussions.
