I'll be the one to post the thread on the obvious...It's pretty sad to see the AMD fanbois behaving exactly like their..

if there was the slightest chance they thought it was fishy?

It would seem to be a sad case of sour AMD fanboi grapes :p

i quote n7 here, who sums it up very nicely :

You whiners really piss me off.

Anand did state that the benches were run on an Intel setup machine. The discalimer is there, if you would actually read
It's entirely possible that the performance of the Intel testbest was "enhanced" in some way, perhaps via the ATi drivers or bios, & the the AMD machine's "lowered".

However, it doesn't seem they could do all that much.

We already know that AM2 isn't likely to provide much of a performance improvement unless AMD's hiding something about the new architechture, & so far, the only thing AMD has hidden is the benches on the new AM2 systems, since apparently they are doing worse due to some kinks they're working out with DDR2.

I agree that the actual difference will likely be smaller when the two platforms are actually out & competing with each other, but unless AMD pulls off some kind of miracle, Conroe is quite clearly going to be the new performance champ.

The sad thing is that you fanbois can't see how great this is for everyone.
This will force AMD to improve their tech to attempt to catch up, or lower prices to compete that way.

Either way, this is a win win situation for consumers

I, for one, am quite excited to see how it all turns out.

Oh, & go read anand's blog, you might trust him some more ;)

I'm just glad Intel pulled their stuff together. I've been a long time Intel user and recently switched to AMD. I bet if Intel didn't have AMD to compete with, conroe wouldn't have been as good as it is (would it even exist?). So bravo for competition. It brings out the better and better products....

Ya rly.

Most of us here chase either the best bang/buck product, or the top dawg. From the line up & prices at dailytech, intel should have both...assuming that resonably priced, big hitting mobos for them come out quickly for the former...

Without competition we'd be way back i suspect, this would seem to be the result of intel throwing big moolah at R&D to get back on top, there's no doubt AMD has been top dawg & bang/buck champ for a long time...

I do own both of Intel & AMD processors systems but I have to say this, Conroe has just might saved Intel ship from sinking further. Not only that, the Conroe beats AMD in its own game, in gaming performance, ironically, doesn' it? Wow...this is a shot in the arm for Intel and let's hope it will benefit its shareholders in a longer term.

Conroe is already sending shockwave around the world...More prelim review from Hexus

Exactly, I don't understand "fanboyism" at all; I just buy whatever gives me the best bang for the buck at the time. If it's Intel when the next upgrade time rolls around, so be it.

Fanboyism can produce results very harmful to oneself, such as owning a Geforce FX card or a Prescott CPU and then being mad at everyone when they make fun of you. :p

Well, this place wouldn't be half as interesting if we didn't have fanboys on both sides to duke it out every now and then. :D

LOL

I should also reiterate that the "next-gen" Intel CPU beats today's FX-60...as new technology should be expected to do. While I don't doubt that AM2 might take a while just to catch up to conroe as hinted by the AT review, it doesn't mean I'll throw away my baby x2 away once the end of this year rolls around. If it can be purchased cheap enough, I'll finally get a real budget OC pc!

Ihate to be ultra cynical but I dont think its good for consumers for intel to leapfrog AMD so quickly. I wish AMD would pick up larger market share to be more competitive on ALL fronts like ati/nvidia. Then consumers will benefit. IF amd fades into obscurity again until its next architecture, we lost, it's stock is going to tank, any gains are going to be reversed, and intel will go back to being intel. While the GPU makers seem to be in a battle of increasing performance, the cpu makers seem to be in a battle of not losing leads so they dont push the envelope as far as they could.

Why don;t you lost some quotes from the fanboi's. I must have missed it, as I didn;t see much.

Also, its too early to even claim anything, except it looks very promising, and odds are good they will be in the lead.

Edit: Except a couple of the comments about the benchmarks...... Could be a little biased, but again, way too early to tell for sure who wins by how much. Till a full anand review the day you can buy one.

well AT is a very AMD friendly forum. if you notice a majority of the topics are on AMD overclocks and what not.

i wish we could divide up the cpu/processor and overclocking forum into intel and amd... at least this way the amd fanboys will keep out of the intel forum.

this is one reason why i'm giving up on AT CPU/OC forum... there are just too many AMD fanboys here...

Yeah thats true. I would have liked to see AMD stay on top a bit longer, historically they've done pretty poor financially...and while they aren't in such a precarious spot currently, it seems they would be better able to compete if they solidified themselves a bit more.

We all knew intel would eventually get its sh|t together, it was just a question of whether they would inject enough resources into the problem to get it done sooner rather then later.

Either way, I'm sure I'll find some bargains on AMD dual cores around when conroe comes out...or maybe they'll have an affordable low end conroe one that overclocks like a banshee.

yeah, brand loyalty is pretty pointless, except for reliability/RMA'ing, and only the dumbest fanboi would try to declare a difference there between AMD and Intel. I've gone from northwood/GF3->9800pro->Opteron/9800pro and wanting to go 7800gt, but may just go x1800 if i can get in on a deal. I follow the money and features, plain and simple.

This should be in Off Topic as it has nothing to do with
Discussion about CPU''s and Microprocessors. Need help with that new CPU? Like to push it to the limits; overclockers welcome here!

Placing it here is flame bait, and no better than the "fanbois" you're criticizing.

I can't wait till the chips are relased and we all get our hands on them. Its going to be fun seeing all the treads about conroe and am2 and how far we can take them.

I think this topic belongs here.

It is still about cpu's even though the subject line might be flamebait to some degree...

This isn't a discussion about CPU's... it's an inflamatory post designed to put down certain people. The OP can dance around it all he wants... the underlying intent is...

"hey guys... look how stupid these other guys are"
"yeah, they're stupid"
"lets get 'em!"

It'll might be fun to see AMD fans deliberately trolling Felixdakat threads insisting AMD are still on top though.

dugg777 has always been a guy of neutrality. Props to dug for pointing out that AMD fanboys are trying to turn an interesting set of benchmarks into contraversy. I also love how they say that they are just going to buy AMD anyways because it will have low priced dual cores than Intel. Well, to them I say, the Pentium Ds are currently the lowest priced dual cores out there.

They are until Conroe comes out and AMD hasn;t come out with something faster, so whats your point ?

So you sent me a PM saying this... then you post it again here. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? If you'd rather chat in PM, just send me a PM. If you feel the need to make it publicly known that you don't like my response, why send me a PM?
